Was a great turn out... thanks guys for making the ride a bit more interesting... always great to get to know some new faces a bit better
Three of us carried on from Jacksons too meet my Mum in Hokitika. We had great weather for the rest of the journey to Hoki, nice lunch there, then us on bikes went through to Grey to catch the BNZ bank (no public holiday meant able to cash a cheque for Mum) while the cage went through to Jacksons to meet us again. We got a bit of rain as we went through Inchbonnie but otherwise just chilly through the Porters as the snow was only about 10 metres higher than we were! We got back to Goon town around 5.30 pm.
Cheers again, and look forward to seeing you folk again soon

Sounds like you guys enjoyed your ride more than Phoenix and I did. We went to Kaikoura, but didnt leave till about 10am so was right at the front of the front the whole time! Completely saturated and the wind just made it so cold!

Lucky for us Phoenixs brother was home and lit the fire to dry all our gear out before the ride back which was heaps better but still cold!!!

Well the plan was to extend to a 300km ride to build up to going to Burt Munroe, 500km with rain wasn't necessary especially given the new back tyre on Monday. But we enjoyed the ride, and the company, and now know what leaks in the rain: everything.

I hear you on this! I realised that the fabric piece in my boots leaked one very wet Wed night ride! Thank goodness for Scotch Guard.

Yeah sounds about right to me.
If it rains hard enough and long enough, it does not matter what you wear.
Sometimes you just get wet (or damp).

Good to ride with you and yours as well.
    Glad you enjoyed the ride.
Would have been a lot more fun if the weather gods played the game.
In the end we just wanted to get home to get warm and dry, sorry if we buggered off to quick.
Feel the fear and do it anyway

Well I'd like to say thankyou to you all for your hospitality towards the newbie First time to Arthurs Pass in the daylight, and first time in a group. What a great ride, despite getting a little damp on the run back into town!

Good on you for coming along SeanG... there are a great bunch of people round here. I know the feeling well, of being the newbie... and it takes no time at all to feel like part of the furniture when you get in amongst it! Look forward to riding with you again soon
    Cheers
