Bertos my player of the day, really stepped up,aside from Nelsons' class, but the nucleus of the squad proved they can handle pressure,so maybe a few contracts to sign.

Contrary to belief you have to think playing soccer(football not accepted by me lol),the ground view of passing shows how precise you need to be,which looks different from the tv pics usually shown.

Friggin whinging actors the Bahrainians,at least when the kiwis did do the rough tackles they got on with it.A few bookings for diving, hollywoods would help.

My mate stayed in Welly hotel and a few guys wearing fifa badges were in the place staying as well.

I think more people do now than did back in 1982. It's just massive. Qualifying amongst 32 teams while ranked 80something out of 200 plus nations who belong to FIFA. IMHO, the All Whites just qualifying is a bigger achievement than the All Blacks winning their world cup.

I just hope that NZ Football makes the most of the achievement this time around ... and I'm not talking about winning games at the tournament itself, rather about using the publicity and interest to strengthen our game from the grass roots level up.

Good to hear on the radio this morning that the government is interested in getting behind this.

your half right there Huff3r, but what this does is adds to the growth of the game in NZ, more people watch, start playing and in a generation or two get better and more competitive. and you never know footballs a funny old game!

this is not to mention the money generated for NZ football, it will be millions of dollars, im worried the Riki Herbert will be poach overseas to coach, he has done an amazing job in gelling that all whites and the Pheonix, bloody amazing.

I did some work for a bloke up here called Sam Malcomson. Tall fulla that was in the 82' team. He owns a local health product business here in Warkworth. He has a framed 82' All Whites shirt on his wall, signed by his then team mates.

There are more NZ youngsters taking up football (soccer) than rugby yet NZ soccer gets piss poor financial assistance from Sports funding. Having been involved in both codes, I'd have to say soccer offers more support to its junior players too. I hope the game finally gets some support from the powers with the purse strings

Played against a guy named Van Hattum when he was in New Plymouth as a kid, wasn't too bad imho.

Realism is nice,we'll get our arse kicked possibly, but is no different to Canada playing ABs at WC.And qualifying for all whites is like Georgia doing same at sevens etc.

Oh and this will fill the coffers by $10 million, rugby costs us next year for cudos of holding the event.

    Q. What's the hardest thing about playing soccer?

    A. Having to tell your parents you're gay.
The greatest pleasure of my recent life has been speed on the road. . . . I lose detail at even moderate speed but gain comprehension. . . . I could write for hours on the lustfulness of moving swiftly.
