    650 Katana electrical information needed

I have in my garage at the moment an '83 I believe 650 katana.
The owner connected jumper leads up "arse about" and managed to do some damage to the loom.
Spent a bit of time last night pulling the knackered loom out.
There is all manner of weird stuff going on. The bike had one voltage regulator rectifier, a rectifier and a regulator! As well as a lot of other craziness...
I have a wiring diag for a 650G (not a Kat) but I don’t think that will be an issue.
Can’t seem to find a manual for the Kat, sadly.
I would be forever grateful if a member here who has a 650 Kat could post some pictures of the way the electric components are mounted on the bike.
Specifically under the seat, on and around the air box and on and around the battery box.
Here is a picture of the bike to give you an idea of what I am dealing with.
    Thanks......

Skidmark might be able to help.

Send him a PM, I think he's been lurking but not posting.

From what I can remember, he refurbished a lot of the loom on his bike when he did his 'rebuild'.

if you go to "basscliff" website i think you might find the manual there.

also, www.alphasports.com have detailed electrical parts diagrams that tell you what goes where.
that means that the model was available in the usa, which in turns means that guys at the gsr forum should be able to help you no problem

Just remembered that Katman had a 650 Katana in his workshop when I was there a couple of months back - maybe hit him up too

    Thanks for the info Psy.
I have been to "basscliff's" site, can’t find a manual for the Kat there, and downloaded the 650G one. This may or may not help me, just have to suck it and see I think.
Also tried the alpha sports thing but there are holes in their drawings, no mention of the R/R that I see.....

Unfortunately the Katana that R6kid saw in my workshop is a 550 which may have things placed differently to the 650.

On the 550 the ignitor box bolts up underneath the airbox while the reg/rec bolts onto the back of the battery box.

Will post up any further info that I may be able to source.

    Thanks Katman!
The igniter was on the bottom of the box so that is a start.....
Not sure why there was a double up on the voltage regulation and rectification, yet....

A common modification is to replace the original reg/rec with a Honda one.

Any chance that the original was still left in place but disconnected?

    from what i could see...

on the "electrical" schematic (83 650 katana) number 13 is indicated as RR and it attaches underneath a triangular plate

"wiring harness" shows all major connectors coming from the harness onto the battery box

    *i think*

    It is possible....
I also spoke to the owner, and he told me that he had started rewiring the bike himself
