    Are you sure?
The entry form states minimum safety gear must be worn as per MNZ manual.
Reading through that for speed events it say leather or kevlar for jacket, leather, nylon motorcross or heavy worsted (eg army type) for pants as well as gloves, helmet etc.
    That kinda put me off.

Trust me, I and many others have done it in full coduras. You will need a back protector which you can hire on the day...

EDIT, actually mate things may have changed.... What size are you? Me and Koba have a few pairs of leather that you could borrow and a back protector actually...

249.6kph actual with 267kph showing on my speedo at the 2007 Sprints. but that was when the 675 was near new. The motor has come into it's prime since then, so if I can get there I will

MD what are you doing with a bike over a year old. Did you get reminded you had to renew the rego?

    That's quite interesting Mark,

My K3 600 did 252 (real) 285 indicated with 700kays on the clock on the old track. I woulda thought the Triumph would be substantially quicker

We could lend you an AX100. Not sure that you'd be able to handle the power though...

    Hi ya Jimmy,
yeah I was disappointed because most of the Magazines were claiming they could get around 252 to 255 kpm at the time, and it's not like I'm a heavy fat bastard. I was at the limiter so I can't see much point in trying again really. See if I can sneak over though. Can't be beaten by some Pommy Writer.

    Hey all,

I'm super keen to do the sprint, and I've had a browse through some of the MNZ technicalities but got distracted by my hot flatmate whilst doing it, and to boot I'm kinda ADD...

So if anyone could help clarify these points, that would be awesome:

Bike: Does it need a WOF? (I've let mine lapse, but should be able to hook one up by Sat anyways...) Is road stock OK? Nothing special to do?

Licensing: I understand you purchase (if not already a race license holder) a race license for the day? Does your road license have any relevance? (IE I'm on a restricted with a 919cc)

I think thats pretty much it...

Haven't been able to get a map off the cliffhanger website though, so If anyone could flick me a copy that would be magic.

    Thanks heaps,

    Hamish

Bikes do not need a warrant but will have to pass scrutineering.

No licence is required as the road is closed.

I should be there with the SM610, though doubt I'll try a run. 576cc single. motard. meh really. Trying to convince a friend with a Monster S4 to run, and another ZX-10 though !

At least give it a go and then give the standing a go. You have a blast doing the standing and if you do the flying then at least you know how fast your bike *really* goes without the risk of a ticket!! Go, on its worth it and if your mates are running you'll wish you were to!

I'll try stealing the ZX-10 instead If not, I might have a go for a giggle. The SM is geared for ~200, it starts getting scary above 160, and 180+ is fearsome. What's the run up distance for a flying quarter ?
