You should have used the kill switch to turn her off. Then to go again all you had to do was crash start her.
I'd contact Suzuki or a Suzuki dealer with the frame number, there may be a record somewhere (if the bike was NZ new) of the key numbers.
Failing that, take the whole lock barrel out and show it to a locksmith. See what they can do.

Alright guys and gals...need ya help! Went for a cruise out Miramar way to clear my head after work, just got back and fark me, somehow my key has fallen out of the ignition on my travels!
Stuck my car key in and managed to switch it off....and it would appear that it's staying there!
Any ideas? Is it possible to get a key cut or do I need to replace the whole barrel? i really have no idea where to start....God I wish I had a spare cut!

On the top of the barrel above where the key goes in it's stamped "8M-2" ...is this the number I need to give them?

now for the broken key. any chance you can use needle nose plyers or twesers (yes i know my spelling sucks - oh well - i'm over it), to pull the broken piece of key out of the gas tank key hole? then you can take the broken key to the key cutting guy and he should be able to make you a new one. i have done this excact same thing before with a car key of a mates before, so it does work (lock smith in petone). if your VERY VERY carefull, you may be able to use super glue (Like i say if your VERY carefull) to attack someting to the broken piece of key to extract if from the gas cap key barrel. but BE CAREFULL, if you glue up your gas tank, dont go yelling at me please.

oh yeah, sorry about that. i'ts kaiwharawhara park, just off hutt road, turn up rangiora ave but when turning off hutt road turn LEFT, not right up rangiora ave. at the top of the hill you will see the stairs.
