Ok ok thats enough of this shit talk. I think someone might be feeling a bit shit at mo and needs more constructive talk. I think he knows he has done wrong. FNR are fine as is no need to change.
Shit happens and somethings things just do not go your way. Thats it.!!!
Now lets just let it be.

I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

    :
thats the whole point! There has been attempts to structure it in the past and its just about ending the week with a social ride. Its all about just doing what you want to wind down from the week.

others have broken off and made a wed night ride. Tues night ride. Its all good. The fri night rides starting from Ashhurst mobile station will be here for time to come and as always, its an all skill level, no pressure winddown from the week.

FNR is meant to be a cruisy chill out at the end of the week. Everyone taking it easy and riding within their comfort zone. That's great and the two FNR's I've done were mint.

What I'm talking about is something more structured around learners and low experience riders. I went on a few of these in Wellington and once I got over myself I gained a lot from listening and following the advice on offer. Each ride started with a rider brief covering specific rider skills appropriate to the route. There were regular stops where the riders were shuffled so that everyone got to follow the lines of the more experienced lead. It was never fast - not even a bit. There was a huge focus on technique in the approach to corners. Hazard identification was often discussed.

I'm not talking about singling out the noobs. Noobs should still do FNR. Rather I'm suggesting a separate ride where being a noob is expected and where the active focus is on learning rather than chilling out.

Sounds like a good idea. I was thinking about setting up a learner ride next weekend. weather dependant. You want to team up? A more frequent ride during the week could be a good idea.

Back on the positives. An awesome ride last night. Great company comfortable pace. Apiti tavern gave us a pretty good deal, juicy scallops. Any newer riders would have found it quick but then we usually always have a few slower riders at the rear with a TEC. With the exception of Monamie it was pretty much a Friday night boys ride. Kudos to Flynn for his good work. I like the idea of some weekend or weeknight slow rides, need to promote though.

if you still have a wof I think you are still insured, as rego doesnt affect the safety/risk... factor of riding, just a legal thing. Best to check it with insurance first though!

back to fnr's etc, hopefully ill be able to make it to the next one, may even bring summat a little different! and I'd be a starter for any newbie training days

Yeah and do just that too mate! Glad to hear it was'nt more serious but it's bad enough all the same...

I was'nt really even referring to your issues mate and I guess structure might be a bit too stronger word but I stand by my post about FNR's, they are'nt rules just more consideration for the situation really considering it is a group ride where we have riders of all experiences.
Again, glad to here your out of hospital and healing..
