Bit of a worry.....fires already in Aussie & it aint even summer yet!

I've been watching the temperatures climbing in Aussie over the spring. They have been hitting 40+ degrees already and the fire season has come early and its not even summer yet!
Friends that live over there are starting to feel really worried about what it’s going to be like when ‘summer comes”. I’ve suggested they cut back the trees around them even though it’s ‘not allowed’ and look at installing roof sprinklers etc. Just don’t want to see a repeat of the Victoria fires again.

I moaned about the weather hear on Sunday but I’d rather have wet days than the constant threat of fire devouring everything I own.

    Good luck Aussies stay safe.

Absolutely. The trees will get burned anyway, if they're by your property, get rid of the fuckers pronto!

    All the best!!!

I heard about a family prior to the Victoria fires that had cut back bush around his property and installed a make shift sprinkler system on the roof of his house.

The 'green' council started prosecuting him for cutting down the 'protected bush', the fires came burnt properties down on all sides of him and left his but still the council prosecuted him!!! I'd be giving him a medal for not listening to them saving his stuff and setting a good fire awareness example to others.

I bet there are a few others out the back yard with a chain saw now.

Fack me that's depressing. How could they still prosecute him!!!! Absolute heartless bastards... then again, i guess rulz iz rulz

Perhaps he should have had a word with the council official next to the 6*6 hole in the garden! Nope, don't remember seeing a council official...

Clear everything around the house fuck the council. Its like when i got fish and game to fund my duckpond digging, i had to cut all the native plants out, smash them into the ground so they wouldnt be seen.
Same thing there, cut the trees, remove the stumps, plant grass over where they were.
That or dig an underground shelter, with a big breath chimney
    Thats whats up.

It's a terrible thought that the tragedy of the Victoria fires may be repeated. I vaguely remember reading that the Aboriginal name for Australia means "land of fire" & the first indication of the continent for early navigators was smoke on the horizon. Greenies & councillors should get their heads out of their butts. Some people must be very frustrated & frightened about now, they have my hopes & sympathys.

We're dreading summer - there's been a lot of growth this spring so the fuel load will be rather high........

We're getting a fire pump and looking at setting up a sprinkler system around the house and barn roof - would like to chop the trees back but I'm not allowed to..........yet.
Also fine metal mesh ember guards around all openings and shutters for the windows as well as tearing off all the fibro and recladding in Hardieplank and aircell foil - its the ember storm and radiant heat that get the houses burning - check out some of the videos of last summers fires and there are houses burning 500+ meters ahead of the flame front!
We also need a minimum 50 000 litres of water in the tank.............

it's not an illegal swimming pool mr inspector - it's our fire fighting reserve pool......
