You don't expect me to be that organised do you. I expect we'll have our shit together by then though, so I'll let you know for sure then.

Wot? I couldn't hear for all the shouting! I might just give them a ring and book a bed ...

Nothing like D, possibly much much worse

I have a map, I know where to go, now to sort some new rubber for the bike....
    Much much worse I say.....

I'm seriously contemplating heading over on the Saturday for the night... This may make the Mrs a little more keen (or not!?)...

Is there likely to be beds left over? Or wise to bring the tent just in case???

Once she found out there's a pub there the interest increased considerably. If you came over for saturday night you could keep us company while the rest of them scorch off into the distance

From Greymouth take SH7 to Nelson Creak Rd to Nelson ck and out the other side to Hanpin Rd to Kopara.

As far as beds go, all I can sugest is to P/M Shrek however remember it is 1st in 1st served so best people pack a tent just in case.

freight transport... Those that would like to off load any shit then I am able to transport it over, this means those that want I can take that tent that may or may not be needed and food that needs to be kept cold. Please p/m me if you would like me to drag any shit over.

there is a bar in the dance hall next to the kitchen block.

if you dont want to bring a tent, there is still a tin roof over the old sawmill, after the night events a corner of that will keep the dew off you. The alcahole will stop you freezin

History of the S/I KB rally

For those that are new to the tradition of the south island rally, heres how it began.

By 2006 the south island KB community had built up such a repore with each other that they decided they should all meet up and the place was to be Otematata, a old farming lodge of several cabins, lounge and kitchen was just what was called for. With a BBQ booze and a Ipod with speakers the night was briliant. The attendees (aprox 18) were and are the base of each s/i kb rally to come. A group ride was sorted on departure to head into Mt Cook, most with hangovers and a few claiming they were fine, so we decided we should do this again the next year.

2007 saw the Staging Post on the east coast north of chch a perfect place, with a few more newcomers keen to see what the fuss was about. After the meet up at the post, all enjoyed a day ride to Kaikoura and back to the post where a pig on a spit was toasted and the Ipod being up graded to a cheap boom box and we all have very little memory of the end results.

2008 danseys Pass, with even a few more newbees joining in. Camp KB was the Danseys camping ground, a brilliant wee spot in central south island. The day ride was out to the east coast and back where once again... rather non-rememberable night went off again with A BBQ and bon fire and no regrets.

2009... well yet to happen but the way I see it there will be a few extra riders joining in with the faithful crew from 06, the day ride being a blast to blackball... ohhh shit I hate to think what the night will bring. Enjoy all.

Thanks for the history lesson, I'm in, with the girlie along for the ride. Probably aiming to meet up with y'all at Blackball for lunch. Quick edit: What's the story with food, I assume it's a BYO affair and fight over the kitchen?

'tis why I was asking, seeing as I'll be heading over on saturday, and anyway I'm usually late getting anywhere

Plenty of alcohol as insect repellant if you're sleeping outside I would think, otherwise you'll be sandfly fodder for the night.

Time to subscibe to this thread, me's be there, that will be singular, but then I do have other mates inside me head that wont go away.
As for drink...who knows what will bring there, 1st year was a few beers and rtd's, 2nd year was those hot damn 12% super fuck woodstocks... and I have not forgotton the bourban spikers that turned them in to grunty little tins.
The 3rd I took a bottle of jim and some rum, and mixed them on the Fri.... no no that was be bad.

This year I might choose healthy.... do rabbit and eat carrots, laced with 1080, that's sure gotta lay ya on ya back.... shum on!!!

If I can get sorted, I will bring kebabs, and some other stuff to share on the BBQ..... there is a BBQ??? if not, then raw chicken could do the same as that 1080 stuff.... wooo hooo
