Yeah it just looked like it stepped out as if out of travel. That isn't entirely unexpected, the suspension is under load there & although the bike doesn't look like it is compressing it could well be that it is sitting on the bump rubber most of the time leaving the tyre to do most of the work.
My RG50 I had the same problem & had to stifften up the spring. Light bikes you can't always tell that they are bottoming & young Glenn may be too light to notice it as well. My bike used to skip along but the slicks saved me quite a few times. Wasn't till I got to a track that had a bump that I noticed that it gave me a kick in the rear.
That was a different shock than Mike used, but he is a skinny arse anyway.
Think we could do some static & race sag measurements. I might have a stiffer spring & or I can measure them. What was the shock you ended up using?
