I broke a rib once and I was off work being paid by ACC for 6 weeks. Lucky for ACC I earn fuckall, but if I was a high income earner off work for 6 weeks being paid for it, then it quickly adds up to the thousands of $.

Indeed this is true. Many who earn more have bigger loans on house etc - Just because the earn more - it does not mean that it is disposable.

    Nope.

We both earn a decent whack - but have about a quarter of a million dollars worth of mortgage (with a quick payoff time) hanging over us.

If these proposed levies (or even close) go ahead, I would seriously consider flogging the bike off if it wouldn't send me mental within about two weeks.

And I'd consider getting a 600cc instead, but I'm a fat bastard, so it'd be slower than a water buffalo on valium.

Nope, self/unemployed, so nowhere near that. (A lot closer to zip, zero, nada, in fact). Have been there though. But my bike is old and cheap though, so I don't see how it makes a difference.

I hear ya, buddy. And my wife's contract ends in a few weeks, too, so our income goes down from teachers wages to bugger all.

Where you been? It's always been that way, what's the point of taxing the poor?

    What a homo.

I had a couple of ribs busted from a kicking by an angry drunk German at the Bierfest one year. I was back on the bike couriering two days later.

That's the problem with this country - too many homos claiming when they should just harden the fuck up.

No you're a homo. My employers would't let me work at all with a broken rib. They told me I should take 6 weeks off work and be on ACC. I didn't have a choice in the matter.

Wow I actually expected more people on here to be over the 80K mark to be honest...like quite a bit over. But then I do have a warped sense of reality, I won't stop scheming and coming up with money making business plans untill I can afford a Any bike I want in any colour I want, as well as a Lambo LP640...just like this one...

Thing is though, at the end of the day it is only money, you can't take it with you when you die and you sure can't judge your worth by ho wmuch of it you have managed to accumulate. One thing I am trying hard to teach myself is to be satisfied with the blessings I already have.

ACC hikes would irk me no matter how much coin I had.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
