How do you find Vodafone's support?
If you got a fucked line speed and have to get a tech out they were charging $200.00, mind you better than Orcon at $240.00.
Last time we had to get a Telecom tech out it was $80.00, though that may have changed when they realised they were too cheap compared to the others.
Going by our client's experiences with tech support I wouldn't touch Orcon with a ten foot barge pole, or Vodafone with an eight foot one.
Telecom seem to be the best of a bad bunch from this perspective.
My experience has been fine, when I had to call ihug/vodaphone they sorted my connections issues (filter/phone probs) over the phone with very easy to understand procedure and explanation. Ive had a bit of experience in the UK and find that the problems are all sort-able over the phone... 99% of the time. They dont muck around and send out good D-Link routers and hook you up quick. Cant complain when they act like some of the huge companies overseas and keep their speeds up.
I suppose that as Telecom own the phone lines still, they have the all the cards in the way of line faults and servicing, but that will change eventually so if you dont call them out, its happy fast internet times at less cost with some of the telecom competitors.
The wife's a communist.
Telstraclear should suit you. http://telstraclear.net.nz/residenti.../broadband.cfm
I never had any trouble with them!
You should only need about 5GB per month. Although if you sit on youtube for those few hours expect to use quite a bit.
Ihugs plan should suit you as well http://www.vodafone.co.nz/broadband/index.jsp
Although if you use all your data you go back to 56k speed where as telstra just charges you an extra couple of dollars (depending what pack you go for) which is what i prefer.
If you are comparing boadband with your dialup, just go for the cheapest deal you can get.
It will be heaps better and you won't need to tie up your phone line. You will still be able to send and receive calls whilst you are online.
5Gb permonth should be more than enough.
Good luck.
Broadband was connected last night , what a difference .
Have a question tho . My laptop was starting to run slower than usual . Will this eventually slow down the broadband ?
Just going my own way
TelstraClear is the best option by far for all of the reasons even the sexy ones![]()
+ 1 for Xnet. Dont use much so pay $25 per month + $1 per gig so only paying for what I use. Also their calling plans are excellent and suport great too. At least you can get through to them without being on hold for hours.
Speeding Safely!
Fuck Telescum!
We are paying $20 for every gig we go over our cap. Telstra is something like $2 for every gig over.
Hmm...well I deal with $hedloads of these guys and I've got a phone line with Vodyfone and Telecom.
Fantastic customer service, reasonable price- Actrix.
Xnet - also fantastic customer service....bloody good if you need extra phone lines (VOIP).
Average service, average price - Vodyfone - good if you combine with calls to vodyfone moby's.
Good service, average price - Telecom - good if you combine with clals to telcom moby's.
Slow shitty broadband, staggeringly bad customer service, but it's super cheap - slingshow.
Average (used to be good) customer service, average price - Orcon.
There are many others.
Dunno why everyone's raving about Telstra. Their prices arent hot and I've called them dozens of times and never once been put through to a human in less than 5 minutes.
I've bagged Telescum for years but they've got their act together for the last year or so.
