Thumbs up Mini DV Sports Camera for under $130.

    Hi Everyone,

I had fun recently trying out this camera on my bike. It is pocket sized, easy to use, and comes with so many attachment accessories!!

I found that clipping it onto my jacket (by my neck) was a good place to have it.

Here's a video I made (note quality is reduced because I edited it for youtube):

I am told by our product team that they will be in stock in about a weeks time.
Specs and other details are in the link below.

You can preorder online here for $115 + GST:
    http://www.activecomponents.com/Prod...m_1321378.aspx

Frieght via NZ couriers is free too!! (applies to anywhere in NZ)

(Note: We are getting in the black version only)

Sure, but the file size of the video is huge. I'll have a go at chopping it down to a reasonable file and uploading it somewhere...

(you probably already know the youtube video is at a reduced frame rate, the camera can do 30 fps)

A short HQ video clip is downloadable here (7.5 MB file):
    http://www.activecomponents.com/cont...ie clip hq.wmv

The maximum speed of the bike shown in this video is 104 km/hr.... Edit: Oh shit, there's an 80 sign post...
It was a cloudy day too.

Note: I used windoze movie maker 2007 to cut this clip out of my original AVI file.

Comes standard with a 2GB card, which is close to an hour's worth of video.

We are also bringing in some 8GB cards (or you can upgrade the mirco SD card later), but the limit is the battery life which is about 2 hours.

Operation is as easy as turning it on, and pressing record.

Not waterproof, although the factory says that they are working on having the waterproof cover out soon (will be sold seperately).

It comes with a silicon mobile phone type cover, looks like it may be splashproof....but this hasn't been tested. Maybe we need to give one to a worthy dirtbiker who can try it for us...

Depends on how you wish to mount it, and how much effort you want to put in. e.g. you could mechanically mount the "bolt-on" clip to something on your bike, attach to your helmet, clip to the top of your boot... or just clip to your jacket collar like I did.
