handling wise a ss150 bike would waste that bike

No offence Max but you seem to have an obsession with the number of gears you have in the gear box. Sure the more yoiu have the more slection you have and the more chance of being in the right gear a the right time however (and this is especially true with 2 bangers) you can tune around this to a point (please anyone correct me if I am talking out a hole in my arse).

Now back to the subject at hand. As much as I would love to head down reality is the Easter trip will probally be my big trip South with the bucket this year and I dont think I can really afford to do both

have you seen the cagiva mito its got 7 gears...... i bet even a gsxr1000 couldnt beat that because they only have 6 gears

ive fixed "the sewing machine" mr pumba, now your name for it is no good....

Sadly.....Nope........its a CHCH ride and could be made to blow the doors of any SS bike with a bit of work. Currently for sale on Trademe.

5 speed gearbox's don't seem to hold the team ESE bikes back on a tight track like Mt Wellington.

As Pumba says, its not the number of gears but the way the power is arranged.

It would be great to see a 2-Stroker bucket running at the front of the SS field on a longer track like Manfield, Taupo or Ruapuna.

the GP's that run at Mt Welly show that 20+rwhp can be done inexpensively and that could be enough to head off most SS's

I know of a Suzuki GP125 that might be able to take it. Faster in a straight line than a SS150 or 250 for that matter and it didn't cost that much either.

I've raced an ailing 150 in with buckets and only two bikes got close, onw was faster for sure. They both broke. That was TRRS 2008.

The GP125s I saw out there were quick but not THAT quick.

As a matter of interest, what was your times? I saw a list of times published some where recently by RICK for SS and buckets at Taupo.

Our GP's at the moment have 20 rwhp, last year they were 16-18, what is the typical rwhp of a 150? I would love to know if we are getting close to the SS's

In 2008 I was getting 117kmh down the front and pretty much the same going up the hill at the back, and expect to better it this year, will you be riding SS or buckets this year?

A super good 150 may touch 30hp, but has probably been 'touched' slightly to get there. I'd assume 28/29.

They aren't a light chassis though.

Bucketracer will be dissapointed at 20 we are a little way off then,

but if we keep working at it we maybe good for Taupo 2010

all the ss150 bikes vary, your gp125 would with no doubt beat an air cooled rgv150 around taupo, manfeild ect, the fastest ss150's from what ive been told are the HONDA NSR150SP, KRR150 TZR150.....these bike are more modern and put out aobut 30Hp at the rear. And the kr150,rg150 and still close to that horse power. Please feel free to correct me if im wrong.

Anything is capable of beating a slow ss150 rider......for example, pretty much everyone {accept one or two buckets} bet a RG150 at PMCC round 1 by quite alot....even i beat him and my bike could rev up into 6th gear.
