Just saw the movie and what can I say. Most Excellent.
OK there are many movies like it. When people see this movie's trailer, they may think "Aah it's just another end-of-the-world movie". Well hello, yes it is.
However when the XBOX360 game Halo 3 came out, people didn't prejudical about and said "Aaah it's just another Halo game". So why should they for this movie? It's been directed by the same guy who directed
Independence Day and
The Day After Tomorrow. But the movie is only "upgraded" hence
better.
I'll sum it all up.
Recipe of making 2012
1. Explosion
There are many spectacular movies out there. For example,
Dantes Peak. But through out the movie, only some parts were exciting wasn't it? Like the scene where the mountain blows up or where the granny's leg gets burnt by the acid lake.
Well, take those scenes and make them better. More explosion, more details, more sound, and more ENERGY.
2. More action & detail
Now, lets take a look at the movie
Titanic. But also only some part were very exciting, putting you on to the edge of your seat (I'm not talking about Jack drawing titties or the love making scene. I'm talking about the collision and the sinking scene). Well take that scene and make it better. Bigger boat, bigger wave, bigger sound, more falling obstacles and more people.
Oh, add the
Poseidon movie's ship rolling over scene too.
3. Thrill
And now, add up
Armageddon and
Deep Impact. Blend those two nicely and squeeze out the BEST juice out of them. The thrills, collision waiting to happen, the drama and big mechanisms, explosion and the climax-is-going-to-happen-in-40-minutes thrillism.
Add ALL of the only
best bits of elements above I mentioned, and make them even better.
4. Drama and plot
Now take that mixture and add hint of
Shindler's List.
.....and make it BETTER. Then you get the movie "2012".
With no dobut, I give 10/10.
Further note: The movie is just so finely detailed. Every disaster scene is so epic (has excellent in-depth of field work done). When you get to watch this movie, either watch it in a big cinema with a big screen or with a big plasma/LCD screen TV. Orelse you'll miss all the small bits and pieces of action that occurs during the destruction scenes (such as subway trains poping out from the ground when the earth "crust" is lifted or every single people on the motorway falling off when the road collapses).
And lastly, Arnie is in the movie.
If you liked the scene where some small meteorites hitting New York in the
Armageddon, like's hundreds of buildings collapsing like Jenga™, or just obsessed with anything that's higly destructive, I HIGHLY recommend you this movie. It's about 2 hours and 40 minutes long but it's not as boring as the
Lord Of The Rings: Triology. Trust me.
