Just when you think BMW has broken the mould they go and prove that they just don't quite get "it". At least it's only clothing and not a slavish devotion to daft engine layouts, strange ergonomics and irritating switch gear.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

To me it looks like the bike has a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde kinda persona...

i cnat beleive all the wailing and gnashing of teeth about swicthgear. It makes perfect sense if you have ridden the bike for more than twenty minutes and not such a big deal.many people manage to swap between euro and jap cars without issue and never a word is spoken.
Tis all right now cos they have switched to "normal". .

having only ridden one Bm'r it took all of about a minute to get used to the indicators.

    >>Would this make you look cool or dorky ?<<

    Entirely dependent on lap time.

The lower the number the more you can look like a highlight pen rack at a stationers.

In regard to the Euro and Jap cars thing, no they don't. I can attest to the fact that after a couple of years the wipers still come on from time to time instead of the indicators.

The thing with BMW is that they were out there on their own, sort of mirrored only by Harley-Davidson's self-cancelling setup.

Ride three bikes in one day (or more) and the different indicator setups get annoying. Try using the right hand indicator on a Harley-Davidson with the throttle wound right open. Not going to happen. At least they are self-cancelling, something all motorcycle indicators should be.

The BMW setup means you're more worried about how to turn them on or off, right when you are figuring out all the other stuff. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but I have fired into traffic with the stereo steadily getting louder on an RT. Plus it clutters up the switch blocks with two extra buttons.

Aprilia are just as bad. I spend a lot of time tooting instead of indicating.

Which leaves everyone else. Flick. Push. Done.

BMW switchgear is like watching Friends - it can be understood by the simplest of minds - but it doesn't make it right.

    Hahaha
OK so I did have to look for the first ride but after that I could find the indicators no worries.
Have swapped on and off the old bike and it's pretty easy to adjust.

I kind of like all the quirks on my new ride

It's a sports bike with shaft drive - I've clocked close to a 1000km in the first week and don't have to clean or lube the chain - magic. It's an extra 30 minutes I get to do something else.

The suspension is wacky looking but it grips like superglue and is still comfy to ride - plus no dive under brakes.

The boxer twin makes a great rumble, has a good spread of power and is perfect for lane splitting - cars see the battering rams (cylinder heads) coming and move aside.

It's the only one of it's kind I've seen. When I stopped yesterday three other bikers all pulled over just to have a look and a chat about it.

It's too much for my liking for road use - you'd need to be seriously quick to pull the look off. I'd just look like a real try-hard in that get-up.

I thought the helmet was a nice match.

Is it possible that BMW are the new gay?

i can see that riding three different bikes in one day it could be tiresome...but i found the rh indicator just so natural on the k100 rs.Roll on the the throttle to overtake whilst extending thumb...hey presto the rh indicator goes on.can operate indicators and horn without unwrappin thumb from grip....Cant rember how they went of..i think they did go off after about 25 flashes...i am sure a couple of yamahas I had had self cancelling indicators too...

He would only look like a dork is he is not 1st on the track or fast in the twists bits.
If he is not 1st or fast then he is a complete and utter Dork.
