I personally wouldnt fit an air filter Jeff , unless you have several hundred dollars to get it dynotuned to run with one fitted. Its been like that for 5 years and is fine without. With one fitted it will be a gutless peice of shit, but you seem to be turning a good bike into that anyway from what im told. The offer was there to ring me and i would tell you all you had to know but you know best.
Dont ring ok - offer withdrawn.
And the reason you approached him to start with was ....... ?
Same as the rear sprocket, you got a blank for it and have to rework it but i told you i will tell you even the part number if you rang.
The reason its bogging is you are running the wrong fuel , again i offered to inform you but you didnt bother.
People are trying to assist you and you just dont want to be assisted.
I am at a loss young man.
sorry to butt in there guys but i also have an 89 CBR400 that is bogging down horribly, when i bought the bike none of the vacuum pipes or filter was connected and i was advised to re-connect it all up, but no change,
any suggestions would be very much appreciated
cheers
thanks mate, one of the first things i tried tho, i've also changed the fuel filter, plugs and leads.
i don't race it at the mo but was thinking of using it as a track bike
yeah, that was one of the things i first checked too, but thats what it feels like - that the choke is permanantly on
try www.davidsilverspares.co.uk
i know it not in nz but they are cheap and deliver quick
plastic fabricator/welder here if you need a hand ! will work for beer/bourbon/booze
come ride the southern roads www.southernrider.co.nz
Try Econohonda first (07 884 8810). They'll be cheaper and quicker.
CBR400's...once tuned a bit they don't work until at least 10K RPM. Not a beginners bike but very rewarding. Stock it should pull OK in the first 3 gears from idle but you've got to have the carb balance and tappet adjustment pretty well spot on. Not really an issue on a racebike. Could possibly loan you a CDI unit to test.
Check plugs, compression test then dyno would be my next suggestion.Originally Posted by Kwakalover
