    Sigh

Okay, I'm sweaty and sandy and gross and pissed off and I haven't even been riding! Doing some regular bike maintenance today, and my bike has decided it doesn't want to start. Again. Not any of the other problems it seems to have had, it will start, but only if I give it a little gas, which I thought was bad and evil and would cause a cold seize. Is this ok? What could it mean?
Out of paranoia I'm gonna go do a compression test in a min or two, but to be honest I don't really want to know, it wasn't that long ago since I did the piston....
Oh, also, my choke doesn't want to stay up, what's up with that?! It keeps popping back down. Bastard little thing...

Get the choke lever to stay up somehow and then see how it runs cold with choke-if u cant be bothered fixing the choke , get someone to hold it on for ya while u kick it.
Hey can ya pop a pic of the choke mechanism on here?
Whether you think you can or cant - you will always be right.

How much is a 'little gas'. Like, were you starting using no throttle before? Its normal to use some throttle just not heaps which can cause the cold seizure.
As for you choke - is a push down pull up thing??? Mine did work, then john cleaned carb & it wouldn't stay up, then suddenly it did lol so I have no fix there sorry.

Hmm maybe, pardon my dumbness, but that would just mean cleaning out the carb right? :0

yea, sometimes small bits of stuff fall down into the carb when you take your airfilter off. it only takes a microscopic bit of crap to ruin your life ha ha ha, also you can check the choke plunger for wear or damage

Excellent, that's something I know how to do haha
Ok, it's getting dark so I'm gonna pack up soon, another hypochondriac oh-no-I-killed-my-bike Q, I took my spark plug out for a clean and when I did there was a bit of whitish smoke stuff coming out of the hole. Is my bike on fire and about to explode any minute? Are there tiny dragons living in my cylinder?

Bikes cold seize when people start them and rev the shit out of them cold. the piston expands too fast and locks in place. A bit of revs is not going to kill it. The rule of thumb I was taught is that if you can feel the radiators are warm you can start to give it some more decent revs.

you can buy tiny knights you put down the spark plug hole to combat little dragons, otherwise it might just be leftover exhaust or petrol vapors from all the kicking and non starting.

PM me your email address. got a kx85/kx100 workshop manual I can send you whicj has step by step instructions on how to clean you carb, take your choke apart etc.

And yeah cheese is right, warm your bike up properly (a bit of revs, but not heaps) espcially if you have a forged piston. Warm radiator is a good indication of a warm bike.
    Broken bikes wanted, pm details
