[QUOTE=F5 Dave;1129589974]Well it appears I'm first back at a PC So I'll announce congrats to the two new GP champs.

When you say 'first to a PC' don't you really mean 'first back to work and using the work PC on work time to post personal stuff on KB...'
Keep it up mate, better luck next year. Me and Picker have been discussing likely mods, rebuilt shock, new front end, try to move the motor etc.

Does anyone have a pic of the winning F4 bike?

Well done to everyone. Its was my first time on the Taupo track and I loved it.

I have just finished cleaning all the volcanic kitty litter out of my engine. Looks like when I went down the throttle got stuck open and engine processed some rock. Never mind. The bike is not to bad broken faring, throttle and right foot peg.

That was the fastest crash I have had. Still not quite sure how it happened. Looks like a flat front tyre. Helmet is toast gloves saved my hands big style.

That was such a great even I am ready to buy my ticket for next year.

If anyone has any pics of me crash would love to see them.

Oh and sorry for interrupting a fantastic race.

    Cheers Rich.

Rich, you and Andrew had just passed me when you came off, I didn't see you go down but I did see you slide in a shower of dust and come to a stop face down in the dust, you weren't moving when I went past, but looked to be up the next time I came round. Hopefully there's some vid out there for you.

It was great fun to race with you all! I felt comfortable out there, even during some sandwich moments, there were no points where I felt like anyone was cutting it too close, no need to really is there, the track really is wide enough for all of us!! Some wicked good riding going on and I enjoyed following some of you around corners to learn some of your lines. Hope everyone who had wee mishaps are all coming right, and hope to see you all back, same bat time, same bat channel (if not before!)

I think Darryl won the points races and Andrew won the GP.

That was Race 14 not the bucket GP.

    Aye!

I asked nicely if I could use the Missuses commuter this year and it happened so you may get away with it!

Yep Andrew Adlam won the 5 lap F4 GP & Darryl Cotton won both all-in bucket races later in the day. Full results should be posted on http://www.marktime.co.nz/results/091228-SRA.HTML
But it was certainly a day of "what might have been". Nigel Duff won the 1st 4 lap heat of the F4 GP before the red flag, & then seized on the 1st lap of the 2nd heat (the one that mattered). And I have to say that my son Nathanael qualified on pole 2.7 sec faster than any other rider, but then unfortunately broke the ring & gouged the bore on the 1st lap of the GP. He carried on for a few laps with no compression & no power, dropping back through the field. Then he had to go out on the 50 for the 2 races later in the day, managing to lap faster than most of the F4 bikes. I hope he has better luck next year. It would have been nice to see the 1st ever double bucket GP winner (dreams are free)...

As I said the timing there is more guess work that anything else, they come up with some wacky results. The only time I rode with Nat was on the warm up lap, I did a lazy roll out of a corner so I could pull in behind when he was on full song on the back straight. His bike was hauling pretty well, but I caught up & dragged him after the connecting chicane & he was pretty tentative down the hill onto the straight. But the red flag was now out as we entered the straight for the start so you can hardly judge a race speed by the warm up can you?
Actually in my view the timing (by MarkTime) was pretty accurate this year. I have looked into the perception of inaccuracy from last year & found just one major problem in the 2nd bucket qualifying session:
    http://homepages.slingshot.co.nz/~ma...28/PRAC09B.HTM
where the timing gear was started late, meaning that a number of bikes recorded a super fast 1st lap. If you scroll down to the individual lap times for each rider & discount the 1st lap then the rest of the lap timing looks fine. No such problems this year as far as I can see.

This year in F5 every lap of Nathanael's was in 1m30 something, whereas F5 Dave's laps were in the 1m36-37 range. Dave's last year's lap times were in the 1m33-35 range. So Dave you were 2-3 sec slower this year than last. Not sure where your 7 sec came from. I did say you were lapping 6 sec slower than Nathanael though... You're getting old like me You lost 51 sec to Nathanael on the 1st lap & finished the race 83 sec behind...

Anyway better luck next year, though hopefully I will be back on the bike with my vertebrae healed to uphold the Diprose name!

dave's reason for being slower this year is ... he is getting old....

or is it the fact that he broke himself earlier this year and is still on the mend?

    what a ride so far!!!!

I think Steve D. came the closest to that result at Ohakea (1st 50cc & 2nd 100cc? on Rams old nail) about 100 years ago when you had to do more than 5 laps to be a national Champ.

Stunning weekend. Had great time wobbling around in the mid pack and meeting a few of you from the rest of the country.
Congratulations to all the guys that went well, the fast guys are, um fast. Not sure I'll ever get to that level but had a great time anyway.
Definitely a starter for next year, great fun and a really well run event.

Yep neck is a little stiff but other than that I'm fine. It was an expensive crash. I had a new front tyre on the list but ran out of money and didn't get one. After a close look at that old thing I should not have been out there. I am just glad I didn't take anyone with me. After 6 months of tuning, the engine was on song and didn't miss a beat. I pulled the head off to see how much sand she swallowed and its all mint. Also really happy with my makeshift airbox now its time to make a real one. There is more power to be made for number 45 also have some plans for the front end watch this space.
