Well it's not an argument starter (hopefully). I just want to know why is it that some guys just can't get it in their thick skulls that girls/women like to have nice things also.
I have a 1994 Kawasaki ZX9R and I'm proud of that. I get comments like "Oh aren't you spoilt having your mum & dad buy that for you" and "whats a good looking girl like you doing with a big bike like that!". It's so stupid. I must admit that in the last few months it has got better or maybe I'm just ignoring them more.

Is it just that some guys feel inferior to women on bikes?
Is it that they feel they can't compete?
Or maybe it's just the fact that they don't know how to act around us!!.

My best friend (also my passenger on my race sidecar) is a guy who doesn't have a problem and its so nice to actually hear compliments about my bike for once.

I ride with an all girl group called Babes On Bikes - we don't have rules or anything like that - its a group of women riders that get together and have a great time on our bikes. I hear of guys saying "oh I wouldn't ride with a women - they ride too slow" but hey that's crap - half the time when us girls ride together we leave the boys behind.

I think it's time NZ really woke up to the idea that women are on the agenda for having just as nice things as the men. What do you think?? Do you agree? How can attitudes be changed? Every thought welcome - politeness is promised in replies.

I'm Sorry....but I just cannot take you seriously until I have seen a pic of you on your bike in a yellow bikini!

And I don't think I am the only one either!!!!

    Sorry....just trying to be funny!

My Ex, and my current partner are both excellent riders that can leave most men for dead, but that does not stop guys from offering "fatherly advice" all the time. Mostly we laugh about it later, because many of these helpful men offer bullshit advice, thinking that a female wont know the diff anyway.

One of the best aspects of female riders is that they do not suffer from "small cock syndrome" and select a bike on basis of suitability rather than "Wow factor"
    Doing the thinking for you

My mrs has always had a smarter-looking bike than mine. She looks absolutely the business on it. I reckon its awesome. She gets all the admiring stares and I get all the quizzical looks. So what?

Noticed the thread was started in 03' and the bike has changed. I don't care what bike woman ride. Most bikes are better than mine, but mine does the job and that is all that matters to me.

yep I notice random advice coming my way ....... I do get annoyed but not because someone is advising me but that someone assumes I need advice .... I don't feel I have to prove anything to anyone least of all a well intentioned "EXPERT" ... but don't get me wrong I will never stop learning ...and perhaps some good may be gleaned from this wise counsel...
I chose a career in a man dominated industry a few years back, firstly NZ Army and then the MOT, you learn to take comments with a grain of salt...most of the time smart arse comments were made in jest.. if I got upset everytime a drunk called me a pigglet..I'd be a very unhappy girl indeed...

The time a labour department man came up to me at a service station in New Plymouth when I was filling up my patrol car back in the 80's and said to me very loudly infront of others ...if you have any issues with men making sexist comments etc within your department you just give me a call... I turned to him and said it will probably be the men calling you...(tongue firmly in cheek).... he made the humf noise and walked off to his car.... twat... mind you I had just left the army
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message.

It's human nature to casually offer an opinion here and there.. Having it recieved with annoyance is usually more about the listeners' beliefs than the speakers'.

When someone tells you what you should or should not do because you are a woman and says nothing to the man standing beside you is bloody annoying.... Rightly or wrongly it's an assumption... and rightly or wrongly that can get annoying. (however I don't outwardly display the annoyance)

I have been back on a bike for 2 years after a 20 year break, I am just scratching the surface of how far I can push myself and my bike...
I am a good listener really...

    girlies on bikes = HOT!!

I have now taught 3 girls to ride (mates and umm *cough cough*) and have also given tips to a couple guys. Major difference is the girlies listen and because they might not have the muscle to throw a bike around they pick up better technique a lot faster instead of just trying to manhandel a bike into doing what they want.

I do reach a conundrum though and am not sure whether to check out the bike or the rider....lifes hard sometimes
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...

How do you know their reasoning is "because you are a woman"? Perhaps they are just being friendly and simply talking on your topic?

Do you see what I mean? It's not fair to treat all boys like they are jerks, just because you believe something bad about them. That just makes you into what you say they are, and you inadvertantly create the thing that you hate.

Yeah like when i tell a chick she should come home with me, get naked and wait for me in bed ! There's no just excuse to slap me, jesus ! It's just my belief on the way things should happen, if they don't like it they can just ignore me ! It's not like i'm a neandathol and will drag them there if they don't comply !!!

Gone are the good ole days !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

I do know what you mean, but I don't think you know what I mean... stalemate maybe I have annoyed you .. ....lol... . I didn't generalise nor am I particularly worried, I have worked with men all my life, most things I know were taught to me by men... and was just adding an observation to the conversation....maybe I am wrong...in which case you owe me a drink.... .... don't ask..you must know it's futile to argue with a womans logic...

Jesus this is all getting pretty phylisophical, lets just ride and enjoy the journey, and have a pint and laugh after. Hitting the sack come later

I get a fair few comments about my bike, its not your typical chics bike. I hardly clean the poor darling, just thrash the shit out of it. Shes a work horse, not a show pony!!!!
When I brought my bike, the salesman said "ride it like you stole it sweetee", so I do just that!

Haha, no I have no negative feelings about it. Like yourself, adding a possibly wrong observation.. I'll take you up on the drink though.
