Did someone say Kaikora for this Wednesday? I am sure someone did... didn't they... Sounds like a great idea... Would be a late return (about 12pm) but oh what a work story.... you know when you re at morning tea and they are all talking about grays anatomy (or whatever is on on wed) and you say "oh really i went to Kaikora for a coke last night" just watch their faces lol

Only downside is us learners wouldn't be able to go along! We unfortunately have a 10pm curfew!

Even in the height of summer ... the return trip would be in the dark. On highway one. Probably one of the most dangerous pieces of highway one (south island anyway)... NIGHT or DAY. The inland route return would take longer, and not really be any better at night for learners or inexperienced riders.

I disagree, we use to do the trip on a Friday night for burgers all the time.
We even did it to see Sonic off, when he went home as he had a late Ferry booking.
SDU, Bent51 and I went that far to make sure he got that far OK and had a meal with him.
There are photo's and a thread on the trip, but can not find them at the moment.

True it is not a trip for beginners or faint hearted.

It's only dark there are no Boggy man out there to get you.
You just have to ride to conditions.

I could be keen IF we leave at 6 O'clock sharp from the shop.
AND if we have good group of riders that can ride quick-ish at night.
    Non stop there and back.

So I guess I'm in, if you need company.
    Just for old time's sake.
Feel the fear and do it anyway

    Don't confuse education with intelligence.
There are alot of highly educated idiots out there.

So yet again the WNRs will digress away from what they're intended to be ??

Why dont the learners do the Leader Rd and the others can bugger off to Kaikoura. As only a few will carry on to Kaikoura. The main bunch can have a quiet cruise - plenty of time to do the Leader run.

Nope... he went over the side and the only thing that saved his skin was his walet in the pocket.. the wallet was leather.

The add for dragon shows some turky being draged on his arse.. when does that happen in a acco?

    yeah yeah... same
But I recall, they wern't dragon, but another brand of pant, though they could perform the same'ish.

HUH.. for real, you have a 70k limit AND a 10pm curfew?

fark the learning system is screwed up... compulsary traing would go a long way and what the gvt spends on traing will save them in ACC etc, go figger!

So are some people going to Kaikoura this coming week? That's a hell of a ride.

Personally I can't be arsed going all that way. From here to there is not the most wonderful road to ride, it's the bit after Kaikoura that's really fun ...

Are there any others that would rather just do a regular Wed nite ride?
