    Question North Shore HazMobile

The HazMobile is not scheduled until July 17th 2010.

Does anyone know if there are commercial places on the North Shore where I could pay to dispose of old oil?

I,d try a local garage/workshop,they probably have it collected to be recycled,I,m sure they can re-refine old oil but I could be wrong.

're-cycled or re-fined' oil in NZ means straining the shit out of it then burning the oil at Marsden Point Power Plant. You then pay for this in your electricity bill.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

I've tried. I get the impression they pay to have it removed, and don't want anymore.

It's a 600cc. It takes 3.3l of oil per change. So I guess I overstated it. I have 6.6l of surplus oil.

Will send you a TXT during business hours.

I contacted the 4 major oil companies, North Shore City Council, Envirowaste, Repco, Supercheap Auto, CycleTreads, several service stations, several workshops, and a whole bunch of other people.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that there is no where you can take domestic oil for safe disposal in North Shore City, except for the infrequent Hazmobile.

I ended up taking the kids to Butterfly Creek today, and then took an extra 5 minute drive to Salters Cartage in Wiri, who are a large scale commercial used oil collection company, and they take domestic used oil for free.

LATE BREAKING NEWS: I've been told that Marina's often have used oil collection faciltiies, so I'll take a wander around a few and find out.
