Thanks for a great event Chris.

I'd hope for a three day event next year - I think the BADD Endurance race is taking off. The Bucket GP could be held prior to it to give the endurance riders prep time. I also think it worked better with the endurance race AFTER the final Tri Series round, well it would for us so we could have found the problem with the "450" before the endurance race This is not a complaint! I'm happy with whatever you organise...

As to the transponders - maybe just source them from other race entrants for the GP alone. Reduced rate for both the 'lender' and the 'lendee'?

I will back up every ones thoughts and agree about what a great event (even if I didnt get past the first race and now have a few months healing infront of me).

One thing I did find confusing was that nobody seemed to know what was just practise and what was qualifing, because I believe it was different the year before.

As for the transponders I am a little undecided, yes I really think that is the way to go for accurate timekeeping and quick turn aroound for such a large meeting (not sure if ther were any timing stuff ups or not) however I am torn because of the additional cost associated with this.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

    I say leave it.
In 2008 they came up with some "Interesting" qualifiying time but this year seemed better, maybe not 100% BUT the important thing is not laptimes, It's who comes where in the race which sorted.
Buckets don't run with transponders at our normal events anyway...

personally i do NOT want to have the transponders on buckets.....

it is not a class that needs to have to be so precise, the top 5 racers in each class (F4/F5) know who they are, the rest of us are there for fun... those top 5 will bitch if someone is in "their" spot on the grid for a race (ie: self policing) and the rest of us, as long as no-one jumps the start (toooo much) i am sure we all wont care where we are..

i was very impressed with the starting grids this year, the fast guys at the front where they should be and the rest of us had fun making up the numbers...

    so NO for transponders...

    what a ride so far!!!!

But there is always the interest in lap times and fast results at the end of the race... tempered by the cost of course. Maybe an iPhone GPS laptimer would be the go? just need to walk the start-finish to set it up.

Fantastic event. I like the idea but would say no need. Everything seemed to work fine. Another day would be worth 50 bucks at least.

Well ideally the endurance on the 3rd day so the rest of the classes aren't sitting around like ghost riders. Year before was great in my opinion. But overall thanks for organising & inviting us all.

Could make a simple program, where you type (Or click) the numbers of a bucket as it comes by, and also have a global timer from when the race starts. That would give us all the information we need. Including postions, laptimes (probabaly accurate enough to .5 of a second). Then make it spit too a spreadsheet.

I had a great time and as a mid pack wobbler see no need for transponders.

I believe they have a system somthing like that, but possibly even with an induction loop or somthing under the track - so no different to transponders except the numbers have to be matched to the times as the bikes pass the finish line.

I may be wrong on this.

I really think it is OK and I'm happy with it.

PS hope the injured riders are getting better.
$50 for a transponder? why so much? We only pay and extra $10 at ruapuna!!!!
Fpr BOB this year we hired transponders from timaru - used by the dirt racers - it certainly did not cost us $50 per bike. I think it was $20. They laid a wire across B track and it worked brilliantly. Everyone know how many laps they had done and their fastest lap and when that lap was. This info was given to everyone within 15 mins of the race ending.
