The Greens are now ostensibly fucked as a political force. With the departure of Rod Donald and now Jeanette Fitzsimons they are now devoid of political nous and the ability to effectively play the Wellington game. Democracy isn't about whingeing and whining about decisions made by the majority of citizens' representatives. Gareth et al could always chain themselves to a fence somewhere.

If he's an honest bloke with just a touch of idealism left in him then he'll be a better MP than any highly educate, albeit corrupt and power hungry, politician. So what if he's worked in a fish & chips shop. If the greens decide they'll have him, they'll have based that decision on something - and unless you vote green to begin with your opinion on the matter is irrelevant.

However - Hes still not the kind of person you want in parliment - Seriousley - how the fuck is he going to have any reasonable impact - or even contribute to debate or policy? One of the areas he wants to focus on is transport - WTF?

Transport is valid area to focus upon in NZ, public transportation does leave a lot to be desired.
