Travel time - Tauranga - Levin

Not sure if this is the right forum to use, but couldn't see a better one?

I'm looking at riding from Tauranga to Levin. Now I know that these sites travel times are generally on the longer side but Google Maps is telling me that 420 km's will take 5 hours and 40 minutes to travel where as AA reckons 452 km's is 6 hours and 25 minutes.

Does anyone know this route, or have any feedback on how far off the mark these are?

It's easy to maintain 90 kmh averages on NZ roads,so I would say around 5 hours stopping only for gas and snacks

The AA times are based on their members, who tend to stop mid trip and wonder where they are going, what their name is and what is this funny little house with the round rubber feet, that they are living in.

Hmmmm why do i work on 100kph average lol

Pixie is right though you know your average speed so it aint hard to work out ! Taupo for me is 300 odd k away and it usually takes me 3.1/2 hrs with a stop for gas and a feed !
Ewwww Pixie, that was a bit of a thread dredge wasn't it ???? sure the rides been and gone by now
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

If I am in the car and I'm organised, google maps is usually a little on the conservative side, less 10%.

If I am in a group of bikers touring, I will add an extra 50%, not that it matters. Touring is about the journey and the company.

If I am bike touring alone, google maps is about right. Now wheres the best coffee stop...

If I am alone on the bike, organised, and (legally) hoofing it, knock 20% off.

If I am alone on the bike, and low-flying, then halve it, plus maybe a little bit, but, lecture witheld.

I don't ride fast in groups at all, in case you were wondering.

"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
    "Wow, Great advise there DB."
