At the BOB today Avalon placed second in the first race of the day. And was in second place again at the 40min mark in the BOB itself having lapped the rest of the field and would certainly have placed on the podium or even won had she not been let down by a broken engine mount.
The GP125 engine had the better of all the FXR's for speed, lapping them all and was the equal of the eventual winner on a highly modified CBR150.
The build cost of the Suzuki GP125 engine in Avalon's bike $500. Piston, rod kit modified RG250 pipe and a KX80 ignition.
Fast and good value for money these GP125's but still maybe not quick enough to head off the SS field yet.

Wrote that before the official results were out.
And your not on your own.....there are plenty of others that think Avalon setting the second fastest lap time in the BOB is mostly due to her riding ability, and that's true, it is.
But a good 2-stroke engine helped and if the ESE people can get any more power from them then they will be something to take seriously.
Especially as GP125 engines are so cheap and reliable and it doesn't take much to wake them up.
A link to the Entry Form is on the first post.
Why not run a GP100 then and use a decent size carb? I'm sure the 100 will be faster, in fact hasnt your own testing shown the 100 to have more power?
Oh, and as for the SS150 racing, down here a CBR150 has won a SS150 on Ruapuna full circuit in the dry. Again having a super fast rider certainly helped too, but some of the top SS150 boys are still pretty quick.
Don't forget too, that scrutineering is to check the safety of the bike, not necessarily whether it is legal or not,
If anyones keen, Someone can use my CBR for this meeting, ill be taking it down so someone miles while ride it.
Whos comming ??? what are the numbers looking like ?
At the moment there's 6 ss150 bikes counting me........im not sure about buckets.....i might ride my bucket if its ready.....ill probualy be faster on it.
Given that this is the bucket forum, i original question for today was:
Who's coming (read: Bucket riders) ??? what are the numbers looking like (read: the number of bucket entered or entering by tomorrow)?
I've got my entry form ready, but am interested in who else might also be going..... if on-one is then is there much point sending it in and wasting my money...
anyone else entered? I see that not late fee and entries are allowed up till the 23rd of Feb.
