I believe it because i do the right thing and have been pulled up once. I've been to Melling before, and Te Rapa Straight in Hamilton, never had any issue with cops. Theyve never even so much as checked my WoF and Rego, why? Because i don't draw attention to myself.

And no, i don't drive an inconspicuous corolla, i drive a twin-turbo subaru (omg! must be a boy-racer!), and a BMW E30 with a full cage and bucket seats. Surely im a target?

Well my opinion on boi racers is simple crush all their cars and turn them into boi walkers. Its a bit like pulling the wings off flies.

My logic for determining consequence goes something like this: Are you male and under 30? Is your car a an; impressa, evo or skyline? Has it been modified? Were you breaking the traffic laws at the time? If any 3 of the answers are yes your vehicle goes straight into the crusher. Simple really.

It is entirely possible to have a good car, be under 30, have a modified vehicle, and just once do something stupid. The world should not come crashing down on you because of it.

See how anyone could get tarred with the very same brush? Every segment in society has a minority that causes annoyance, wether through illegal acts, or not (unsafely slow drivers, people who don't indicate, people who blow cigarette smoke in your face as they talk to you, people who think they are better than you). The punishment should fit the crime. Sure if they are a continual nuisance, crush it. But only then.

Thats a bit like saying 'Are you someone over 40? Are you riding a bike that doesn't handle as well as a modern style bike? Were you spotted without a proper bike jacket, boots or gloves? Well you should loose your bike licence because you could be a danger on the road and to the tax payer.' - not exactly that simple though is it.

What happened to fair trial, innocent until proven guilty etc...?
I really do not think this is the answer, it would do nothing but make things much, much worse.

I'd like to see what would happen if the media stopped bloody reporting on 'boy racers' all the time and shifted new focus to something more important.
The cops need to do their jobs - fine people for driving recklessly, driving dangerous cars, driving on lost licences, creating far too much noise and polluting / littering the enviroment.

I think the important thing is higher penalties for serious repeat offenders, you get caught driving without a licence or on a suspended licence and doing something dangerous - you should get a wacking great big fine and public service, rather than just your cage crushed, sold or whatever.

It was the same in my fathers day, he used to see people doing burnouts in cars, street racing, removing mufflers and driving dangerously... nothings changed except for the availability of loud exhausts and when that 'fast and the furious' movie came out years back people just got a wave of enthusiasm. (lol) - you can say 'ohh there were less cars on the road then' but there were less roads then too not to mention less safety features in the cars - am I the only one thats noticed a decrease in 'boy racers' over the past few years?

Just be glad they aren't targetting bikers. It's pretty clearly aimed at anti-social behaviour in cars. It will only take a handful of complaints and one motivated politician, and we have a problem on our hands.
