And so, if anyone on here has a large socket (to use on the triple clamp) and - I'm unsure of the correct name - but a tool that's sort of the inverse of an allen key, that I could borrow for tomorrow, I would greatly appreciate it. If this sounds like you you can PM me, reply on here, or give me a ring on 332 3943. I can pick up tonight or tomorrow.

    Thanks.
What size? measure across the flats.

I've got enormous spanners in several sizes in my garage if it's any help, let me know what size you're after. What's the inverse of an allen key and what's it for, I can't picture it.

Don't currently have the bike with me so couldn't tell you the sizes sorry.

The inverse of an allen key... well it's for the base of the ignition barrel. I suppose perhaps like a tiny tiny socket?

I also have to ask who was the GSXR being picked up half way up the Akaroa hill road?

Not sure (I'm actually colour blind). I did stop but it was all in well in hand and nobody looked injured. It looked like a very slow speed stuff up.

Nice! Congratulations on your new bike.

So can you qualify how it's different from your ninja?

You had the name right - it's a hex socket, or just socket in shorthand. (At least I am prettY sure...) Best of luck with getting it all sorted out.

I think he is asking for a Nella key? I guess that's why GP bikes come with pit crews. You can borrow my shotty if you like McW, barrel vs barrel.
These aren't the bikes we're looking for....

Don't be surprised if the bolt head snaps off - some of the security bolts are like that, with an upper/visible head for tightening and a lower head with a ratcheted, no-undo face - both connected by a thin "neck". You can tighten them, but loosening engages the ratchet and the joiner neck snaps, leaving no head and the bolt still done up... THEN you have to get a drill press - it's hardened steel, you don't want to skid off-center and munt up the alu fork tree - and drill off the lower head and go normally from there!

Only other trick is to forego the drill press and use a sacrificial nut to center the drill if you can get one to "sit" in the bore the upper bolt head was in...

So Gareth what was it you said about MaxF's "Funky ass curves"? - God, now I'm worried...
