    Noticeable accepted dodgy behaviour

In this modern pc industrial de-evolutionised society, I notice some odd behaviour mostly from old men and question why is this accepted still?
First, we got an old man close by who EVERY morning AND afternoon, sits at the end of his driveway on a chair and watches the school girls? or maybe boys? or both walking to school.
This is clearly sexually deviant behaviour but noone says anything. He sits there happy as.
Is there any other explaination for why he does this? This happens all over the place, you probably have one in your street.
Another good one, is the old men who walk their dogs laaatttteeeeee at night. If you stop to monitor them, you will notice their dogs are constantly stopping outside peoples houses, having a root around on other peoples lawns, for a shit or a piss. While the dog is fukking around, the man will be staring into the house, a blatent voyeuristic activity if you ask me.
    Close your curtains.
Yeah yeah, the old fart works so much he can only walk his poor mutt late at night.
    Whatever.
Have any of you noticed any of lifes little acceptable oddities?
Do women do anything sexually deviant? and how do I get involved with it???!!!!

Firstly, unless they are actually doing something wrong, leave them alone. Short of saying something lewd or touching the kids walking past they are doing nothing wrong. Builders and construction workers are known to have a good perv at anything with legs and a pair of tits that looks marginally legal.

Secondly, most of those old folk spend all day inside doing sweet fuck all. Did you stop to think that they might be out there simply to watch the world go by - things tend to be busiest around 8-9am and 3-5pm. There is a guy I usually see on Glenfield Road sitting at the end of his driveway, and there are hardly and school age kids that walk past, similarly there is a guy who I see quite often on the ATNR who sits out on Don Buck Road and is there at 6:30-7pm when we ride past, he's probably out to see the bikes go by.

How about next time you give him a wave, or stop and talk. He might have something interesting to say. He might have served in WWII, Vietnam, Malaya, Solomon Is... would you think so poorly of him if that were the case?

In fact maybe it's you with the problem. Those who are overly quick to be a judge of poor character usually have strong character flaws themselves.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Isn't it sad though, that in this day and age now that when we see an old man sitting on his balcony watching school children pass we immediately think he must be some kind of pervert? In a more positive and less cynical world we might have thought he just enjoys sitting and reminiscing about his own childhood, or maybe he is proudly watching as the new generations of his neighbourhood go off to gain knowledge?

    In the electric wheelchair?

He's always there. I usually give him a wave when I'm on the bike. I figure his health means he can't go further to watch the world go by. It actually never occured to me he might be a deviant. (EDIT: I don't actually think he is, BTW)

Hang on - let me grab a pen and paper and I'll jot that down.

When I'm older I probably wont be able to remember that one.

Are you serious? How did you determine that this behaviour is "deviant"?

An elderly neighbour used to do the same thing in the afternoons. Wander out to the front gate as the kids went home from school. That was a highlight of the day, getting to say "hello" to people (kids and parents) and get some contact with the rest of the world.

Go and vist a rest home some time. You will be the star of the show since the oldies enjoy a chat with someone new. They can't get out much and appreciate the contact.

What is sadder still, and probably somewhat dangerous, is someone projecting large quantities of their own beliefs onto other people and labelling and categorising them accordingly.

Instead, take a look at their faces and see if you can pick what emotions they are experiencing. Consider for a moment what hardship they have faced, and continue to face every day, and how they feel about that. Consider what they have to force themselves to do everyday just to feel safe.

We aren't all the same. Everyone feels different to you or I.

Sigh, it's a sign of the times that the first thought is that someone is up to something dodgy.

On the bright side - you are observant, which should serve you well in your riding

Well said Steve . I often see old and also disabelled people sitting outside watching the world go by. They spend most of their time inside being alone and isolated from the rest of the world. Watching the world go by is their only contact with the outside world.Mudfart how about putting yourself in their shoes and thinking a bit (getting the facts right) before you go shooting your mouth off. Just because you think one way , doesn't mean we all do.
Nothing wrong with perving either(well not at children ,granted) but we all perv at members of the opposite sex(some of us at members of the same sex,ha,ha) ,it means we are still alive.

I think you can consider yourself told mudfart. Maybe you should re-name yourself Brainfart. Some very good posts here, maybe you should have a think about that.

I think you need to have a look at yourself. Chances are the old fella is just enjoying watching lively young people heading off to school - no big deal, he probably has piss all else to do all day other than dressing his hemorrhoids. Old people have been watching young people enjoy life forever - and long may it continue.

You should stop and have a chat with him - who knows maybe he has this old bike lying in the back of the shed he thinks is worthless - "you know son it's a worthless old black shadow or something like that ..... you can have it for a dozen beer "

There's a wheelchair bound dude I see every weekend who rolls out in the morning to watch traffic, I always give him a wave.
