Sumner to Lyttelton closed at about the turn off for the timeball last night, they are installing a new water main, I will have a look tonight and see if they are closed tonight again but there has been signs up there for the last couple of months.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

Yup, Sumner to Lyttelton was closed tonight at the summit rd intersection. Only had the closed road sign, no notices of why or for how long.

You know it won't be the same without either of you. Plus, you guys can give me some company in the 'taking our time' group ...

    Go on ...

Plus, I'll need someone to video

I'm tempted to bring the snappy snap camera and click some shots of you lot as you ride past, might be some nice evening light ...

Actually, that's an idea. Why don't we-who-don't-really-enjoy-the-summit-road ride straight up to the sign of the kiwi and wait for them there, taking pics as they go past then meet them somewhere afterwards?

Destination is Diamond Harbour via the Summit Rd, Peetey and I (and anyone else who wants to) are going to head up to Sign of the Kiwi and get pictures of everyone as they come past. Will be nice to meet the "tagalong" See ya tonight!

Right, so can anyone confirm the situation with Evans Pass? What's Dyers Pass like these days?

Destination is Diamond Harbour. The origional route was, BK, Dyers Pass (Sign of the Kiwi), Evans Pass, Port, and round the bays. With KP and Co going Ferry Road, Sumner and waiting at the carpark just over Evans Pass for the Summit Road group.

However with the roadworks on the Evans Pass to Port road we will have to think of another route. The Summit Road from Evans to Dyers has too much sunstrike at that time of day and I think it would not be safe.

I think we should still go to Godley House but by another route. Unless someone else has another idea?????????

Dyers is ok now, 99% of the loose stones from the new seal have gone. There are lots of sheep along/on summit rd between evans pass rd and sign of the kiwi.

Even going via Dyers would still give Peetey & I (and anyone else) a chance to get pictures. Or perhaps going via Tai Tapu and over Gebbies??

If we stick with Diamond Harbour we have 3 options. With Evans out Summit Rd is out cause going the other way would just be stupid (sunstrike). That leaves: through the tunnel and round the bays, over Dyers or over Gebbies. Any of these 3 would be quite a short ride...or there's options 4 & 5 which I'm not even going to suggest
