I can't for the life of me find any on the net..... I type in "high visibilty vest" on trademe nothing ! having a hard look on "motorcyclegear.co.nz' and motomail.... can't find anything!

Anyone know where to look? recomend any bike shops around that will stock them?

    cheers.
Get one them neat hi-viz protest kits from the sewing circle ladies, I am still using mine on a daily basis and the velcroe front has never opened up even in the welly winds.

Got ours free at a ride a couple of years ago....getting a bit faded now. Prior to that we got some from Uncle Bills in Porirua for about $3.50 each - they do up with velcro on the front but never came undone.

Oxford make some nice flash ones now with stretchy side panels so they fit snug and don't flap around...very nice but a bit pricey at $80 tho See here

Mitre 10, Mega, Placemakers, etc usually have vests of some sort, or any safety shop will sell them. Maybe rural places like RD1 etc.

The Warehouse believe it or not. Probably quality wise somewhere between your $2 shop and your NZ Safety model. Cost about $10-$15 from memory. Zips up front and multiple sizes. Orange colour

all the shops that sell safety gear have them.......good sturdy ones and cheap nasty ones....
I get them for work, But i don't wear them on the bike......
I believe they may give you a false sense of security,
Maybe you are better of thinking that you are invisible and people don't see you....and ride accordingly.
Some cagedrivers won't "see" you no matter what you wear....
    Good luck

The "sense of security" you experience is purely a choice you make inside of your own brain. Your riding should be the same, regardless of weather you are wearing a high-viz vest or not. A garment does not change your level of "security".

Ultimately you have to decide what you think are the most pre-valent dangers, and take steps to mitigate those dangers. Different people have different perceptions of those dangers, and wear different gear as a result.

But I think it is a big stretch of the imagination to suggest you might be in greater danger wearing a high-viz vest (that would suggest your brain is acting differently because of a piece of clothing - suggesting the rider was a mental perception error). Studies I have read suggest they make little difference (your neither in more danger nor safer). I also find it hard to suggest you will be safer wearing a high-viz vest (little evidence to suggest this).

However, even though I see little evidence that they make any difference to accident rates, I still choose to wear one in the dark (hopefull optimism that it might one day save my life, and the pre-caution is easy to take). Otherwise it is just the leathers for me.

The difference is all in perception. If you have a concern about not being seen and you can do something about it, then you are not so worried about being seen and can concentrate better at the job in hand.

I went hunting (pest destruction) a short while ago with a foster son and we walked to the bottom of a very large gully, we called up on the radoi for a lift back to the top of the hill. The people in the 4WD told us that they could only see the kid in the "Blaze Orange" hat and where was I and well I was standing right next to him.

CRT or any farm supply companys sell the stuff ... and a big safety pin through the zip toggle stops it coming undone ..

I rode home in the weather bomb the other day - thought I was near invisible so popped into a $2 shop in Katikati and got the cheap mesh hi-vis deal.

Stayed on - velcro holds secure and doesn't billow. And man was I swept around on the road a far bit.

I have to say that there is no velcro that will shand up tothe Manawatu winds,
You are best to get one with a zip around here parts... OR a Dayglo technic jacket.
Must say I love my Freeway Jacket.
