Any plans any one was considering for alternative fuels got shelved or forgotten, with the sudden abundance of cheaper fuel on the world market.
My prediction is we are going to pay much more this time around, particurly if we do not as a Nation look to becoming more self-sufficient, in our own fuel supply, and less needy on the International Markets for supply.
We have vast coal reserves and not all of it is on consevation land, Coal to Gasoline is old technolodgy, by applying modern technology it doesn't need to be as dirty as it once was.
There is also research on Algae to Oil, but I would doubt it would produce enough Oil for our countries needs, to make a significant impact, on our fuel demands.

The Up side for us as Motorcyclists, will be less cars on the roads, and probably more car drivers converting / returning to motorcycling.
Don't we already produce more than enough oil for our country? But it gets exported because it has low sulphur content and is far superior quality to overseas stuff, making it cheaper to ship it out, sell it off and then buy and import the cheap shit we put in our cars? And i personally don't see fuel prices getting too ridiculous, it's just a seasonal effect.... does everyone not remember that they started rising like this in early Autumn 2 years ago? Hitting the $2 mark in the middle of winter and then dropping down nice and low again? And of course if we panic over oil prices rising then the companies will be able to up the price all they want, if it doesnt phase us then they're less likely to raise them. Outcry against them has never worked...
    Yeah, nah.

We can't exspect to keep a high Dollar value, wich is what helped us last time around even at $2+ a litre, as world economys start to get better so the cost of fuel will go up, yes with the American driving season coming up the Fuel prices will fluctuate, that is a given, but as Economys like India and China grow, and their Middle Class grows and choose to be more western in some aspects of their lives, ie owning cars, as well of the cost of moving raw and Processed materials around the World.

Oh well, in the last 3 years the wage i get (minimum btw) has gone up by $3.50 an hour, and is set to increase even more. Feel sorry for the people on higher wages that dont get government-enforced pay-rises tho

Altho those people do get paid more than me
