Sorry would like to but working...Just been up the Maungatapu and met the Nelmac boys on the way down. They have put a wire across the track right up at the top on the Nelson side. The attachments are drilled into a couple of big rocks. It's ok for bikes as you can still lift it up and squeeze under it. Hope that helps.

Good to see there was ultimatly some consultation on this. Guess wont be long and there will be a locked gate at the Caretakers house as well. Fuggit!

Interesting.
That would limit the damage on the Nelson side of the track to 2 wheeled and foot traffic. ie Bugger all.

May be all that happens.

I have a theory that the morally perfect cyclist community have got in someones ear and want the maungatap to link up with the proposed dunn Mountain leg of the national cycle trail thing.
