One in particular (that many on here will know of) is a complete fucking psycho and tried it on with many many fellas before being told to FUCK OFF in no uncertain terms and finally she had tried her shit out on so many people that word spread.

To the offending psycho hose beast...honey if I ever have to see you face to face again I assure you it won't be a pretty exchange, hopefully you have found some gullible sorry loser to take advantage of with your woe is me bullshit and so you won't be out there causing any more shit amongst happy sane couples....HA who am I kidding...I can't imagine that a sorry enough loser who would be prepared to put up with your shit exists. Have I made myself clear yet?
perfectly clear and you're not wrong. What about the other scenerio where the man in question looks afeild for further entertainment, can't blame the women too much in that situation especially when they cover up their true situation....some men have a lot to answer for.

Don't sell yourself short either, Ratti. Have a good look around and supermodels are few and far between. Most of us, yes, men included, are rather ordinary looking folk and don't rate ourselves too high in the glamour stakes. Usually all we need is a wee bit of fettling, a touch of lippy for the ladies, and a smile that lets our personality come through and we're attractive.

Speaking as a man, I am drawn to women who have that "something" in their face that tells one they are a nice person. Otherwise they are no more than a pretty picture to look at. It 's something that took many years for my wife to understand. She still thinks she's ugly and I used to point out the fact that all the men she met liked her for some reason, and of course I reckon she's a rather long way from ugly, too... She couldn't understand that I didn't want to jump into bed with every prety girl I saw, and I guess it is a stereotype of men, and may certainly be true of some men, that women are merely sex objects.

In the case of your OP, I do think that he was simply speaking without thinking, something people have a tendency to do and I would pass it off as of no consquence. Everyone who knows you through KB thinks you're okay.

My experience is that men that talk about their wive's in glowing terms in public are usually cheating on them.

so...all i can take from this is when we ride with woman we don't know we shouldn't mention our wives?....is that it.....what about ovens?...or washing machines...i suppose we can't talk about them either.....and what on earth is wrong with meeting a woman riding a bike and then mentioning that your wife rides a bike too....seems an obvious thing to say...with no double meaning or innuendo that i can think of.....have i missed something here??....

I wish I knew how to multi quote on one post.

Let me see if I have distilled the basic thoughts from y'all.
    - It's all in my head
    - it's not in my head, there is something going on with these guys
    - they fancy me and are trying to attract my attention
    - they don't fancy me and want to set boundaries
    - they think I'm a player
    - they are players and want to let me know
    - they treasure their partners and just want to talk about how wonderful s/he is
    - it's just what men do

    What did I miss?
Seems I should just bail up the men who did it and ask to clarify. Short words, Simple sentences, bullet points.

Of course it's ok to talk about your wife..but it should just be a natural part of the flow of conversation, not out of the blue. That's what weirded me out about the situations I am writing about.

I doubt it would have been the cougar thread as one of the groups I go out with is nothing to do with KB.

Still has been an interesting read. Thanks for all the input. Has given me some things to mull over.

Eyegasm dear, have you had the same unfortunate experience? Yes dear, I'm sure all the Tuesday crowd will agree that you are attractive.

Entirely appropriate that you should mention it in that circumstance. But that is not the conversations I'm writing about. Yes you are missing something, but most likely because you are one of the many riders who do not do what I am querying. Just ignore this thread, it's obviously not applying to you.

Oh and my thoughts were - they fancy you but are setting boundaries for themselves early so they don't get in trouble later

I agree with you, but I think the bit you missed was where the guy pointedly said "This is not a date!"

I certainly don't take guys that come up to me and say their wife rides, as a warning... but, merely as saying we have something in common to talk about. It's still thought of as fairly 'out there' for a chick to ride, even though there are getting more and more of us.

So fulla's, don't be put off talking about your wife riding to us! We'll probably ask what she rides and does she want to come out on our next ladies ride or want her cellphone number.

well, yes. Men in particular. Thanks goodness I have really good man friends who are able to translate the gibberish that falls out of male minds at times. I'd be lost without them.

Heck yes! You know, 25 years ago I was used to being the only woman I knew who rode. I'm really suprised that it is still sufficiently odd that folk need to comment on it. I am so happy that there are regular postors here that happen to be women.

Why is it that when one plonker steps out of line, every other male is tarred with the same brush.

I have been going on group rides for a number of years with both male and female riders. I have mentioned my wife and family during conversation and have never assumed that some pretty face talking to me was in any way interested in me rather than the ride. (except Quazi of course who does have the hots for me.... Hi Carla, how ya doing. Haven't seen you for a while).

It amazes me how the, 'all males are like that' mentality immediately kicks in. I've got news for you.......NO WE ARE NOT.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
    BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!
