    1999 Honda CBR1100xx Blackbird

Price has now been dropped to $7000 as rego expires 11 April 2010 and WOF expires 11 May 2010

Bike now on trademe with photos from today

    Hey Guys and Girls

The bird is reluctantly up for sale because of a change in circumstances. He is a 1999 model. The first of the injected birds with roughly 82400 km on the clock. The kms will rise slowly as I do use him for commuting. The bike has just had a full service and flew through with no problems. The only thing he needs is new chain and sprockets in 20000 km. The bike is an excellent all rounder and easily takes two people to wellington and back with full luggage. She has full service history and has just had a oil and filter change and check over by george from motorcycle doctors.

He has a lot of addons -

    Fully redone front shocks
Fully replaced rear shock with a penske aftermarket shock
    Double Bubble tinted screen
    Aftermarket Rider Seat
    Ventura Pack rack
    Scottoiler
Heated Grips (currently disconnected but installed, just needs to be hooked on at the battery, the weather was too hot and they were not getting used)
Rear Hugger and aftermarket chain guard
    Crash knobs
    Radar detector mount
3M/scuffproof on the majority of the plastic
    Ventura Headlight Protector

The bike has never been crashed (all the foam on the inside of the fairings is intact and original!) and had one stationary drop/lean against object from the previous owner (blackbird on here). Blackbird had the panel repainted and he is mint! He has the stock pipes on and is stock apart from the above add-ons.

There is about 75% tread left on the rear tyre, an avon storm ST and I have just placed a new front tyre on - a michelin Pilot Power. All I can say is good god, the pilot power is a sticky tyre!

The bike is in beautiful condition but has the odd stone chip for its age.

Due to a change in circumstances he is up for sale and I reckon $7500 (now $7000 price not negotiable) for a big reliable sports tourer that can hit the twisties on a sunny arvo or charge down the entire country on a whim is pretty darn good. Note that I used the bird for commuting too so it does everything really well.

If you guys need a second opinion on how good the bike is and how well it was looked after ask blackbird on here (the previous owner) or any of the dudes he rode with. Will be sad to see him go.

Serious Inquiries only please. After a little bit of thought, test rides to serious enquirers only, cash in hand and it would be helpful if you turned up on something that would give me a bit of confidence in letting you test ride him. I am more than happy to take you as a pillion to show you how well he goes.

    Regards

    Dushy

Sorry to hear that you're selling her Dushy, I know you've loved the long haul rides you've done on it. Yep, I lavished a lot of care on it and the aftermarket suspension is worth a heap on its own. I still have all the technical material for Blackbirds and all the history of this one in particular (plus a spare ignition key wich I found recently). If anyone is interested in the comparison between a Blackbird and the Street Triple, there's one here: http://geoffjames.blogspot.com/2010/...bird-some.html. Not much else to say except it's one heck of a bike and if I wasn't a shortarse in my 60's, I'd still have it!

    Gender confused much?

My suggestion is cash in hand for test rides - no one wants to buy a bike without having ridden it. I flew to Wellington to test ride a bike before buying it.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

It was meant to be "he" all throughout, but yeah, typo. The bike is called jason.

Yup, SHE was called Grace Jones when I had her ( a black bird). Dushy is far more politically correct than me
