    Ivan's Cliffhanger 2010

Well I have never done the CLiffhanger before and coming out of my cast on Thursday and getting my wrist moving again on friday I was ready to ride the weekend as it was a local event and the organisers have been a big part of my acheivements in my race carrer.

I went Saturday and set up my EZ Up with my mate Simon on his Motard,

We went for our sighting run and all I could think was this was fast very fast I was struggling to memorise any corners so I cut it down to sections flat out slow flat out esses finish basically,

Upon riding it I did notice I that the long right hander had a massive bump in it that really really unsettled the bike and afew bikes ended up in the ditch there so i was avoiding this patch.

My First timed run was something rediculous for a 600 like 2:58 or something and I was gradually improving my times but not by much.

So the end of practice day with a short ammount of runs due to crashes was over and I packed up to go home to be told by one of the marshells I needed bigger balls haha and he was bringing them for me the next day.

So Sunday Morning I got therequite early to hear a few people complainin about there heads being sore haha, 2 mince and cheese pies and a high roller energy and my bike on warmers I was ready to run I was awaiting my set of balls that were being brought but he forgot them sadly. But I think there was some in my high roller energy drink as after myfirst run I was 15 seconds faster than my best run the day before, Some thanks to Drew comes in here tho as he gave me some pointers and I knew he knew what he was on about cause he was flying!!!!

My First run and I felt good on track turn 1 flat out and just about run into the grass on the exit scared the crap out of me but I kept going and then you start dropping downhill in a 6th gear right hander to drop it down to 5th and out then theres about 3 corners in a row that are windy uphill to Cliffhanger bend which has a 35kph sign board on it haha down to 3rd gear here and then it was just wide open from here and you start going past the water towers which wind up through the road between the trees and banks hooking 6th gear along here into a fast right hander which I dropped down to 5th for which comes up over a blind right hand rise which you then flick left to get over the bridge down to 4th for the fast uphill left hander down to 3rd for the right hander here with the uneven patch that sits about 2 inches lower than the rest of road which I was avoiding losing time basically from here you wind it out I was hooking 4th gear up through here probably could have gone up there in 5th but the rear tire was getting pretty old so didnt feel 100% in going over my limits up to a chicane which I learnt from when I broke down here that you could go through gas wide open as Drew was showing on the thou so up through here hanging off the bike through the fast chicane up hill to the right hander which is crucialto get right to set you up for the final bend to get off the corner as fast as you can for the run to the line I think thats a brief way of describing the circuit its fun is all I can say

so I ended up in my 3rd run doing a 2:36 which was my best run and was over 20 seconds faster than when I started there which was a good feeling

I won the Support 600 class and mytimes were 2 seconds faster than the fastest suppport f1 class so I was pretty stokedbut next year I am coming back to enter Championship class

It was a good run event and I want to Thank the Organisers and especially the marshells that spent there days either 1 or 2 out there thank you,

The Competitors for all being so generous with each other giving advice etc,

The Spectators for giving us something to show off our cool race starts to I was loving doing them they 2nd gear wheelstanding through the kink

Thanks to Drew for all his advice helped me gain alot of time out there
To my Parents for there support as per usual

    Catch yas there next Year

Well done mate. You would have gotten the best launch prize if there was one too.

i just held it on 10,000 and lean over front and just ride clutch out and give it to it and get myfoot on peg as soon as possible to even my center of gravity out so it is not prone to one wheeling a trick I learnt on a how to ride 600's by Valentino rossi video
