I enjoy TKD, have enjoyed Ju-Jitsu and Karate in the past.

TKD's kinda lots of kicks, Karate's old-school, and Ju-Jitsu's scarily effective (my experiences from having been subjected to each of these as a crash test dummy.... )

Looks like you get a lot of time to work on the basics, and if you want it enough you have the opportunity to get into sparring and more advanced stuff a little later on. Would that be how you would describe it? I might get in touch later, but I'm just wondering what the prices are for beginner classes?
Prices keep changing. For our club i think its $15-$20 a week depending on what you want to do. Only thing required for the club are the club boxing shorts that are $40. Wraps and gloves are a good idea as well though.

Basically you turn up and for 3 lessons they show you the basics. After that you join the rest of the beginners. They have gradings every month or so (which they started after i had been there for over a year so i never did any) and these will let you know where you are and what to improve on. After a few gradings you can join the intermediate classes if you want. This is where the fun stuff is. Its more technical and you get to spar.

Best thing to do is turn up and watch. At our club you get one free lesson.

If I was 15 years younger I'd like to get into MMA. Actually it doesn't really matter what discipline you choose, all that matters is that you're out there doing it!

But to answer your question I would just visit all the gyms in my area boxing/Muay Thai/MMA whatever and see which appeals the most. It's not only the discipline you are checking out but the gym, equipment, classes, trainers, members, opportunities, accessibility and so on. All these play a big part in whether you will acheive your goal or not and actual style is only a part of it.

Of course I'll want to have a watch first, but I think WTK will prob' be best considering it's only about an hour drive from where I am, compared to the others, which makes a big difference if I'm going to be making the trip atleast 4 times a week

If I was so lucky. Paeroa area (back and forth sometimes but Paeroa-Thames). There is a boxing club in Te Aroha (about 20 mins) but I'm not interested in boxing so much. It's a pitty, because there aren't any tkb any closer.
