On the face of it he's doing what his community wants and I say good on him. If I were a ratepayer in Wongers I'd vote for the name Wanganui staying as it is with no 'H'. He's actually doing his job and standing up against what is a racist bunch of bullies.
Law's is the consummate politician. Find an innocuous subject that serves no purpose or significance and rally the general public..........Law's will be remembered for the 'H' in wanganui and fuck all else. Useless twat!

Interestingly when using spell check over wanganui it suggest 'wanking' hahahah.

His maniacal rants, over trivia, make me want to section him and throw him in the bin. The egotistical Rhacist. Is it just a show for him and does anyone know what in his childhood made him such a megalomaniac?

He's rolling with the public's wishes. Rare for a politician. If he's making some mileage out of it then so what?
I'd rather that than some dork building monuments to himself with other people's money, he doesn't appear to have done much of that.

And I see he has ordered the Whanganui signs to be removed.....because the name change has not been gazetted...............It's a lost cause Mr Laws................all ya doing is costing your ratepayers money and making you look silly.

But if it it's good for his ego does he care.

Oh come on, be fair, he has a legal point. Transit is jumping the gun and if you ask me THEY look silly, not Laws. I don't agree with the guy on a lot of things but I think he's got this one right. When the law/rule/regulation (whatever) is passed correctly then he won't have a leg to stand on. Until then, go hard ML.

The battle has been lost indeed, Thats no reason to stop the fight.

Once the law change has been done and Mr Laws no longer can order the signs removed, well fuck it, we'll take em down just the same.

Sorry Skyrider, Michael Laws is right to do it, as has been pointed out, it has been gazetted, and therefore, not legal.

OK, it would sem that he has lost the battle, the signs will be changed in due course.

Costing ratepayers money to remove them?

Council workers aren't payed by the job you know.

What cost money ? Transit NZ producing the signs, shipping them, possibly paying a consultant to design them etc.

This H thing will cost NZ as a whole millions (mark my words) for all the things that must be changed.

Screw that, and you all bitch about ACC increases.

Good on ya, let me know what size spanner you need and I'll mail you one. (To a postal address in Wanganui, with no 'h', naturally.)
Alternatively, simply have a sign-writer make up some stickers that cover the 'Wh' with a slightly larger 'W' and slap them on every sign with 'Wh' on it. Clean, simple and fast.

Yes from the legal point he has every right. I might add that I was against putting in the H..............but lets face it..........Laws is fighting a reargard action and when it comes down to that it's a lost cause. It looks like spite.

There's a lot of that (spite) around the Wanganui area it would seem. I don't care whether it's spite or not, Laws has the law on his side with this one. If anything looks like anything it looks like Transit are pandering to the 'h' lobbyists and they are (legally) out of line. When the spelling has gone through the proper procedures and is a done deal then fine, go change the bloody signs. Until then Transit should pull their collective heads in.

Furthermore; why the fuck is it a lost cause when the majority voted to keep the 'h' out?? Democracy? I don't think so.

Because white votes are one each. Brown ones ten.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

Of course, silly me, kiwi democracy is different to any other sort of democracy.
Kinda works the same way in the history classes too.
