    best ever mushrooms

    You need ;

    5 really large flat mushrooms - one of them chopped
    Beef stock
    Rich dark gravy powder
    Large pot with a fitting lid

    Put the flats in a pot with a knob of butter and brown quickly on the gill side, flip over and brown on the base, and sprinkle with beef stock powder. Turn right down way low and cook for 15 mins ish until soft all through. Throw the chopped up bits in and brown them - 5mins.

    Mix up one big teaspoon of gravy powder with about one cup of cold water, flame to high, and add the gravy mix while slopping the mushies around.

    Put flats on toast, pour gravy over, and don't share it with anyone! Add salt and pepper to taste.

    The camp blue plate is the problem. It completely fucks up the deep brown food.

    edit: If I had presented it garnished properly on toast on a gold-rimmed white plate, it would have been different.

    The problem is you've ruined a set perfectly good mushrooms with saturated fat and salt then proceeded to serve it with nothing but a plate (toast is not counted as food).

    I heard you're meant to wait for the first few frosts in winter to collect mushies. Don't eat them all at once though, you might trip out too much and end up like that dude on those Countdown ads who give instructions on how to cook.
