But apart from that, I have met very few cagers of the ilk mentioned by the OP. The usual stuff I get is "Oh They're SOOOOO dangerous!"
Ive owned 5 bikes that have all been in the 85-110hp bracket. IL4s, twins, sports, naked etc..

Im extremely familiar with how fast the speedo needle moves on all of them, and i still say the cage is quicker once its moving at a decent pace. and my speedo is accurate too, and all of those bikes ran a speedo healer.
Only the 600rr and the TL1000s would come close.

What is your hp figures, and are you still on FWD system? Also, what tyres you have?
On FWD with less than drag slicks, you'll either run into weight problem (slow, not enough power), or grip problem (too much power).
Either case would see modern CBR600RR (or even F4 model) blasts through easily.

With AWD and RWD, you can run them much higher power before you run into grip problem.
I happen to know a few supras, GTRs and WRX that can match or spit on the same 600 bike. Or even from 0.

As a comparison, decently launched 600+ sportbikes are easily within the 10-12 seconds on the 1/4 strip.
Stock standard twin turbo Supras (280 - 320 hp) with good launch gets to upper 12 - mid 13 seconds.
Stock Prelude Vtir (4th gen) are in the 15-16 seconds. Stage 1 modified ones are in the upper 14s.

Stock CBR600RR with medium class rider easily do pukekohe track at around 1.10 - 1.20 range
Stage 1 Prelude vtir (4th gen) with same-class driver does Pukekohe at around 1.20 - 1.30 range

Those are my tested numbers so far.

Would be interesting to see more, but let's keep the professional racers off the topic.
Its just a standard 200hp, H22a FWD, running tyres more expensive than i can replace.
My point is, its a $6,000 car, and i reckon it is quicker in that speed range (after 180 it runs out of puff, whearas sports 600s ive owned will pull through to about 260)

You kinda miss my point. the car would suck at the drags. Ive done a fair bit of drag racing, including high 10's on a 100hp bike, same can be said for the track.
Im talking about horse power mattering once a decent speed is reached, as then its about hp, stability, grip, and aerodynamics, whearas off the mark, a 200kg, 100hp machine will skin alive a 1500kg, 200hp vehicle.

My comments are aimed at the original poster, regarding a $30,000 WRX being wasted. by a 250...

Also people forget is a shite load more dangerous to be doing higher speeds in a car than a bike. A car at 160 feels like its going really fucking quick on the road, whearas on a bike its just cruising - so a lot of boy racers who might appear to be racing arent willing to push it as hard, and for as long.

I wasted a SS commodore on a XT660 yesterday, and he had a head start. LOL.

my prelude aint nothing special but guaranteed 120-180kph it would kill any <100hp bike, its just real slack off the lights, but thats all power to weight ratio.
Your prelude must be f@cking special if it can't keep up with your RVF.

    According to the internet

    VFR400 -> 59HP and 182kg wet (164 dry)+ person (about 80kg) gives power to weight of 0.225

1997-2001 Prelude SiR S Spec -> 220HP and a dry weight of 1270kg +120kg (conservative estimate for liquids) + person (about 80kg) gives power to weight of 0.150

Thats assuming that your car is the latest shape bb5-9 and the top one of that type, being SiR S spec, I still don't see how it could keep up with a 60 hp bike.

Personally, neither can i see it.
Hence why im pleasantly suprised, and making the point. it is is the one you describe.

Im not talking about keeping up, or racing from a standing start, just in that speed range. My RVF topped out at around 220 as an estimate (only had a 190kph speedo), and was rather annoyed at only just scraping past a legacy station wagon from a 120kph roll-on race on the motorway that went for a few kms.

Cages are easier to drive fast under any circumstance other than a straight line. You just sit there and swing the steering wheel and you're less aware of the fact you're about to crash. With operators of low-ish skill and moderate to high-ish confidence a 100hp cage is usually quicker on a twisty road than a 100hp bike.

    Usually the younger people.

Even my CBR250 is a fair bit quicker than my mates old RB20DET R32 Skyline, it's quicker than my mates VT Commodore (although not at speeds of 140+kmh). The only drags I've ever lost on that bike were to a HSV Clubsport and a Laurel which had a fair bit of work done to it. I even took out a R34 RB25DET Skyline at a traffic light drag a couple of weeks ago, and that guy was really going for it.
I did manage to beat an MC19 like my one in my (fairly modified) GTI-R at a traffic light grand prix.

    'Cause they're fucking homos
I thought it was "my shitty ginny is more fun than some overheating piece of shit su-bahru", not the other way around. Then again, I never got what "car enthusiasts" thought was so great about burnouts all the time.

Because it would be your fault not theirs if they fuck you over on the road and tear one of your legs off?

I've never really had any issues with car drivers. General ignorance and lack of awareness? Yes, but that's about it and I do my best to plan for that.

I did have a beer bottle thrown at me once, whilst I was riding over the Mount Maunganui harbour bridge, but that was on a bicycle at 11pm on a Friday night, so I will discount that.

Ignorance! I have a Pitbull which is the softest dog I have ever owned but she is looked at like a demon by the ignorant. Same with bike's, if you have never ridden one & the family told you they are dangerous then your opinion would not be worth wiping my butt with. Enjoy your bike & leave the dumb's to their illusions.

I hate to break it to you, but pitties weren't bred for years because of their stunning good looks, and if you off on a bike you're a lot more likely to get fucked up then if you were in a car
