In my day a packet of fags was 2/6d, fuck me $330 a month is my mortgage payment.

How the hell do you people afford to do something that makes you ugly, stink and the eventually kill you.

Good for you dude. Do it.

I used to smoke. I don’t kid myself by thinking I’ve quit; I just haven’t had one in a couple of years.

Piece of advise. Once you decide to stop, you stop. There is never “just one” for you dude. Once you’ve been addicted you’re fucked. I know guys who’ve stopped for two years then have one as a ‘treat’. Soon it’s one a day, then two… and within a month they were smoking full time again. Fuck that. No sneaky puffs and you'll be ok.

    A truly wise man.

There are no ex smokers...........we are still smokers.......................it's just that we do not smoke..............forever.

"Whenever you feel like a smoke, wank."

    End results may vary.

Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong, but I used to believe that bullshit before I read the Alan Carr book.
Everyone makes it out like you're living a lie when you quit, nothing is ever the same, you can't enjoy life.
What a crock of shit, people give up every day and never start again and don't have any lives.
Even in the name "giving up", you're not giving up anything; you're saving money, time and your health.

$330 a month is fucking rediculous. Buy a bike.

Chur chur everyone. And yeah, already decided to quit before I posted this, just wanted to pick up some logical speak to use to justify a new bike to the boss ;p The 10th it is. Also same day my partner and I are moving in together.. fun fun.

On the plus side, I probably will give up coffee as well, that's nearly as much a $$ day habit as smoking, for me they go hand in hand.

And Alan Carr's got nothing on a tiny Pole chick. She'll kick my ass if I smoke after we move in.. East European style yo.

Just to add my last minute 2c. I love a good smoke! I don't consider myself a smoker because I don't smoke in general any more and I have never felt the "need" to smoke. Just consider it like a chocolate bar. You don't leave the office, shop, library etc. to have a chocolate bar every 20 minutes or so, so why do the same with cigarettes? For $1.20 each I buy a couple of small cigarillos every now and then as a treat for myself with a glass of scotch, a beer or a cappuccino! It is awesome!

    Living a lie… Can’t enjoy life?

The only people who go through life measuring the length of time they’ve been 'missing out' are addicts who aren’t getting their hit.

Non-smokers don't feel like they're missing out. Non-smoking is just how you are. Life is good. You can run like the fucking wind without all that shit in your lungs. You don’t stink. You get to buy lots of other shit…. $330 is a decent wad!

What I’m saying is, if you were a smoker for a while it’s easier for you become one again.

I’d bet most smokers don’t like being a smoker. “I smoke and it’s fucking awesome!! I get to smell like shit, burn loads of money, and wheeze like an old man at the first sight of a decent set of stairs” ** high fives** Shit no.

So why do I think smokers continue smoke? because they’re addicted and addicts will justify all sorts of twisted shit in their heads get their hit. They may feel guilty as hell afterwards… but they’ll do it anyway.

If you’ve been addicted, don’t kid yourself into thinking you can have social smoke like others may be able to do. The same twisted shit that kept you smoking for so long can easily start again. The only lie is thinking a smoke has anything good to offer. Zealous rant over.

First off, fecking good on you mate. I quit 5 years ago after smoking for over 20. I found it so easy that I wondered why I had bothered smoking in the first place.

Its a big ask and spending the money on a bike, and yourself is a great way to reward yourself.

Best of luck mate, your world is now your mince n cheese..

    Thumbs up

    Good on ya.

I quit Cold turkey 5 years, 92 days, 14 hours & 2 minutes ago after smoking for 25+ years & I won't lie, i found it damn hard.

For me, finally getting my full bike licence + a cheap runabout was my reward. 5 years on & a few upgrades later & i haven't looked back.

    Good luck !

fwiw I quit spur of the moment cos i'd had enough of being a smoker.

    Yeah, I followed that,

Rather than smoke a ciggie, go somewhere quiet and smoke your peg

I was on 20 a day so now my eyesight is well and truly fucked

Still, who gives a toss, eh......
