    Hey there, just got my license finally (im 25) haha i think my fathers midlife crises has spilled over to me... anywayloved bikes for years actually anything with engines really... Been over to the Moto GP in oz last year holy hell it was awesome!! but now im after a bike, i have $3000 to spend and lookin for a decent 250 sports bike, ill be doin track days with the old man so been lookin at some gsxr250's 1990 and some cbr250rr's and the like, anyone have some suggestions or could point me in the right direction?? even have a bike for sale haha?

    Get a 250cc two smoker, and learn (on the track) how to steer it properly from the beginning.

    yea thats exactly what i wanna do gotta track day on 15th may, but dont wanna two smoker, will be hooning round the roads too. Have ridden a bit about 5-6 years ago... spose all those gsxr250's cbr250rr's zxr250's etc etc are all pretty similer? Be good to start on a track getting some coachin then i dont grow bad habits i guess haha

    All the same in one respect - if they spit the dummy they are suddenly worth nothing. That's gunna sting a bit, unless you have good money to throw after bad.

    You will grow bad habits, its just minimising them where you are able, and beating the already-developed ones out - if you can.

    Steering is the big one. Read all the books you can on cornering bikes and just do what they say. Only one specific thing I'll add - and thats force yourself to only steer with the bars until it becomes completely natural (some months.) Too many people can not do this and will never be able to except where they concentrate enormously on it, and consequently they can never go where you can go. You need it to be second-nature, if I understand you correctly.

    Awesome, yea i have about 4 good books already, picked up total control, and flick of the wrist and learning all about countersteering which seems odd but makes sense if ya think about it... def wanna try that on the track first haha. Awesome anyway, cheers for the advice! i shall heeeeeeeeed it!
