Mother jailed for falsely claiming sexual assault of her daughter.

This sort of shit really pisses me off. Quite frankly she deserves jail time.

I was told by a cop that about 80% of claims of sexual assault are false (OK, hearsay I know), which really narks me not just for the vindictive women just out to get someone, but also the real victims who don't get their cases given justice due to police being busy on the false ones.

Holy shit - he must've pulled that figure right out of his arse. I hoped you wiped it off before using it on this forum. The incidents of false claims of sexual assault are incredibly low, especially in comparisson with the media attention they are given.

Feel doubly sorry for them Trudes, ACC are now requiring them to say they have a mental illness before they can get any councelling. In order to prove that, they have to go and recount the detail of the abuse they have sustained to 3 professionals, and sustain questions about the abuse. Once that is done they then have to say they are mentally unwell.

Anyone that falsely claims to have been sexually abused, or their children have been, deserve no sympathy from the courts, and should serve long periods of time in the company of bubba in a small cell.

I like this idea. For a start, they wouldn't need to make "false" claims any more.

The punishment for these people does need to be far worse, to reflect both the "punishment" that the falsely accused undergo even those that are acquitted - in both psychological and financial terms

I find it disgusting that women (and men) make false accusations which tie up the Justice system and that such cases often impact upon real victims not going forward because they believe they wont be believed. But what really gets my goat is making such accusations against someone who is mentally impaired and is more than likely going to find it harder to defend himself especially against 3 people. What would have happened to this poor sod if there hadn't been any video footage and how long would he have got in prison and he would such a person cope having to spend jail time with the stigma of being a 'sex' offender Glad to see that the Justice system does work!!!!

You know, thinking about it now, I doubt very much that you could ever fully recover from being falsely accused. You would almost be tarred with that brush forever regardless of the truth.

This happens too often. And not only is it your good reputation that you lose but you may lose your job and have to move away from loved ones because of the (a) no smoke without fire attitude, (b) vigilante mentality, and (c) need to make a fresh start and try and get on with your life

It would've been 3-4yrs ago, but I remember reading a piece in the Christchurch Press where it was stated that in the previous 12mths there were over 400 false sexual harrassment cases thrown out. That's more than one guy a day (these were only complaint's against men) whose life is turned upside down. Could be you or me next.
