Slippery seats

The problem's simple. The seat on the RF is as slippery as wet ice. Regardless of whether I'm wearing leathers or textiles, I slide around on it far more than I'm comfortable with, as does the wife when she rides pillion. Does anyone know of any vinyl treatment I can use to reduce the slickness of the seat, without affecting appearance or damaging the surface?

Fit a sheepskin .. more than one issue is dealt to then. You wont regret it ...

Any chance someone has been polishing the seat? If so, just stop polishing it and it will come right.

No polish that I can tell, just seems too be the type of vinyl used. I do use some vinyls in my job, and some are pretty slick. I contacted the suppliers of our vinyl with this same question, but after 2 weeks, have given up on waiting for an answer.

Fit a sheepskin .. more than one issue is dealt to then. You wont regret it ...

For some reason that thought never occured to me. I guess that could be one solution.

I spray my seat with silicon as I want it to be slippery , can't see why you would want to be stuck to it but to each their own .

Maguires make a vinyl cleaner suitable for bike seats.Most other cleaners make them slippery.

wouldn't sheepskin get manky? good, inexpensive solution if you don't mind maintaining it so it doesn't start to look like dead rat.

So that when your braking your arse off or accelerating hard you don't have a tendency to slip off the bike. Sure you have your knees, but it helps if your bum sticks to the seat a bit a swell.

Iffen you want a sheepskin, I've got one you can purchase. Been used once.
Otherwise, make sure you don't use anything on your seat except warm soapy water.

Not stuck to it, but I don't need it as slick as it is now - like pd said - heavy braking's no fun. Our fabric supplier's sending me a sample of a vinyl cleaner to try. Of the 15 or so bikes I've previously owned, I've never had one with a saddle quite this slippery. I have to wonder if the previous owner did use some sort of polish on it. Under acceleration on the weekend the wife was finding herself sliding way back on the seat, not a comfortable feeling for someone relatively new to riding pillion. It doesn't worry me so much when I'm solo, but not so cool 2-up.

I'll put money on it that the seat as been coated in something. Bike manufacturers don't ship bikes from the factory with slippery seats.

Uh oh. Better be carefull making comments about the wife like that. You could get teased badly about that one.

Seat may have been wiped with Armour-All to make it nice and new looking. While it does that, it also makes it slippery as f*ck.

Never had any trouble with that in the last 35ys of riding , but as posted I want to slide around on my bike as this is what I like & helps when cornering at high speeds to be able shift my weight easly around from side to side & forward & backwards .
