where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Test rode one over the weekend....very very nice..... quickshifter is good. Sounds great when it gets past 5000RPM and the exhaust opens up and then it sounds like a superbike... Mrs Wannabiker wants me to own one...I may just have to oblige....

So, whats a more better "sport" bike? BMW S1000RR or HP2 Sport?

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

I haven't ridden either the HP2 sport or the S1000 but based on riding my R1200S (The base for the HP2 sport) and a couple of Jap litre bikes it's chalk and cheese.

The big twin revs to 8800rpm, the superbikes are just hitting their stride at that point.
Power output is about 70hp less although torque is massive and it's easy to put the power down.

I like the R1200 because it will do commuting, touring, track days, weekend thrashing etc
As a one bike does it all solution it's pretty much ideal for my needs.

Seating position is very comfy for 5 or 6 hour rides.

But - I do seriously think about about getting a commuter for the weekly run and buying an S1000RR for weekends / track days

Aight, what's faster on the track?

What I want to know is that, has BMW created a bike thats cheaper and beats it's flagship model?

My understanding is the HP2 is being discontinued.

The S1000RR will be much quicker.
It's lighter, it has a lot more power, it's got T/C

On the road you could argue it's totally wasted but on the track it would be a weapon.

Look at how well they are doing in Superstock.

Yes i have one ! had it since march the 17th and all i can say is its amazing it does everything very well havnt found a situation its doesnt deal with well. Service is due saturday the 8th were the 9k limiter is removed, its allready bringing the front end up at around 7500rpm when accelerating hard before the traction control brings the front end back down so gently its like floating and now im starting to waffle. I have never ridden something so good full stop.

Just picked up the new weapon! What a fun bike! So many things to play with, TC is fun to try and activate on the road, quick shifter is great and the bike feels like a rocket. I will write a full report soon but id say the next time I ride it CKT should have done what they do best and it will be even better!

There is no other bike that has made such an impression on me after riding it for an hour, no wonder there all but sold out world wide
