Yeah, I have nothing to prove to anyone, we all know I am a newbie, and I am under no illusions as far as my riding ability goes.
I also understand now why the newbies go at the front of a group ride I didn't "get it" until I was behind someone that I was trying to keep up with, and found myself going too hard and having that "oh crap" feeling when you know you are riding outside your skills. Good lesson learnt there, and very good that I learnt before I up-sized to the 750cc.

"oh crap moments" get people killed. We ride for the enjoyment and have a "tail end' rider so no one gets left behind and so goes beyond their comfort zone. Check your tyre pressures and get them correct before a ride, and at this time of year make sure you wear gear that prevents you getting cold.

No need to worry, we ride as a group at a nice steady pace with plenty of breaks. As Bluebird says, no one gets left behind or pressured to ride beyond their skills. 'Cruisers' are a state of mind more than a class of bike. See you on the ride.

picked up the new bike today and it is awesome! I had heated handle grips put on as I hate my hands getting cold - I always wear lots of layers to keep warm as well.
Yeah I love cruising on my cruiser - not interested in speed which is why I don't have a sportsbike (as cool as they are)

Don't think I will have developed balls by then, I want to have more experience and confidence before I attempt a group ride.
I had heard comments that this model bike is underpowered - must have been guys that race sports bike or something, cos this bike flies I want to get used to it first - way more power than I am used to.

Group riding greatly assisted my up-skilling, as I ride with people that were happy to answer questions and give advice on riding and bike maintenance, but what ever works for you is what you should do.

I took it out for a ride today and am feeling really good about it, if I can get my husband to come along on the ride then I will come - I only get 1 full day a fortnight without the kids so I am quite possessive of every second Saturday and want to keep him all to myself.
