Too all the young and foolish

There are speed limits for a reason, driver safety and protection. The roads are for the public to comute and travel on. Speed doesn't kill your right, its what you hit. Most young people get off there learners and straight onto 1000cc superbikes which are capable of 200 mph. Most of the response times of younger/ or newish riders is very defficient and most can barely handle the 100km speed limit in the event of a tricky incident or circumstance.
The other thing is our roads here completely suck. If you compare them to like the Autobahn in Germany or US highways there is just no comparison. The surfaces are a meter thick in most places and are 100% gradient and cambered. Designed for maximum performance and safety.
Our roads here are lame, and the best ones are in the south Island. My advice is stick to the limits as per the law, otherwise someone will be scraping you off the parchment or off someones car. I am not joking, If you want some visuals picture this: seen personally.... decapitated rider, crashed into rear of a parked van at 80km/ph. One arm dismembered, no head, found on car owners porch after passing through the vehicle. The interior of the car decorated by the content splatter. Yes it was a freind. Also highway crash, kawa 1000 in 1996 just passed south side of BP Autobahn before Oteha valley turn off on East Coast Bays. Rider and pillion failed to make corner hitting on coming vehicle. Car occupant killed instantly, rider in crushed and broken into peices, pillion was still alive on emargency service arrival, died at the scene at the sound of creaming children in the involved vehicle. Some may remember it as it was featured on the news and on 2020 after a huge crackdown on speeding vehicles. The rider was a collegues son, only got full lisence and just brought the bike in Queenstown and was 19, Killed himself and his best freind, not to mention the mother of the children in the on coming car.

I'm sure there are others with similar stories..... Please guys, be responsible on the roads, don't become a statistic, and go before your time. Tempting fate: eventually you will win and take the exit.

100km/ph does seem slow, but only if you ride faster, I have ridden fast before the most is 235km/ph, but there are always consequences. I have seen the fruits and decided like many to curve my habbits. If you want to go fast, save for a trip overseas, otherwise hopefully you'll wake up, before its too late.

Am I the only fuddy duddy.

We have been given the freedom to choose however we wish to live our lives. But we are never free from the consequences of those choices.

    Blame Newton.........

Blame Sir Isaac Newton for the whole laser/radar/enforcement thing. If he hadn't pointed out that any force applied gives an equal and opposite reaction, the cops wouldn't have to try to stop us from hitting fixed objects at high speed. So, invent a time machine, nobble Sir I, and lets just get on with killing ourselves in stupid ways.

At least Charles Darwins theories would be true. The stupid ones of us would kill themselves, not continue the pollution of the gene pool, and idiots would have been bred out of our species by now.

I have to retract my last post on this topic, I know realise speed is like a drug, if you can you will............... its very addictive..... I am by no means the fastest, but I have tasted the 200+ and it was very exciting. P.s. track days are probably best if you don't have access to private air strips....... 247 is as fast as I could fit without running out of runway. Road speeding is still not smart though, sometimes I get itchy..... and I have to scratch it.
