Double edged sword this one. How much money would the organisers make if it rained on race day and kept 80% of the paying public away? Not much! And weather it rains or shines on race day, the event stlll costs the same amount of money to put on.

to be fully fair, 90% of people at street races know nothing about the riders or bikes so im not sure it would. greymouth ran big this year with no big names in any classes really.

for alot of top level guys theres nothing to gain by doing the meets, you either do them cause you want to or don't. I can't imagine it making much difference to the race organisers if they show up or not, so long as they have decent grids.

No apology required Shaun, I only do them because im contracted to do so by my sponsors and if I was to say to them I did not want to race the streets im pretty sure the support i do get would be much less and then I couldn't go do the track stuff to the level that I wish, so it is a bit of a double edged sword for me also. I admire Andrew for making a stand but I think it is a bit shit that he races Boxing day with no complaints but not Paeroa never could work that out.

Paeroa is one of the few places Joe blow gets to race in front of a large crowd, so thats one of the reasons a whole heap of us turn up.

It gets good TV coverage so sponsors like to see you there.

I guess when anyone gets influential enough a difference can be made (Andrew, Craig, Hayden etc) I'd like to see improved safety over entry money; Hire some air fences and consider the race when doing road surface repairs (road works) throughout the year.

its the thing with motorcycle racing world wide, we are used to to paying entry fees, so we keep on doing it, no matter how many people pay to watch us,

The AGM is coming up SOON - everybody figured out how they are going to vote on the proposed changes - especially
" 7.1.1.2 - Every club has automatic proxy for the affiliated MNZ members that are registered with MNZ as being part of that club, each affiliated member eg, Executive officers, Stewards, and Licence Holders of each club will have their vote cast at each AGM on their behalf by their club delegate. "

MY reading of this is if ratified it means that at the 2011 AGM the clubs with the most members can control what happens - There is no provision to say that they have to consult their members or what happens if members of the club are at the AGM ?
Its a pretty big change to they way MNZ operates.

As is the proposal to erase all mention of the "CEO" from the constitution. I wasn't around when the decision to have a CEO was made but I'm guessing it was debated at length. The removal of the CEO was done with no debate - I don't recall that being mentioned ANYWHERE before the elections last year ? Maybe if it had been on the "public" agenda we might have had more than 315 people vote ?
So who's going this year ?
If your not going who's got your proxy ?
How many people on here are members of MNZ ? ( All the racers have to be )

Pie-Rower is a different level of risk compared to Wanga's though Craig, even for the fast buggers like yourself who actually have some idea of what they're doing.

The timing of the event it also brings into mind the question of priorities: fuck yourself/bike up there and it's kiss any chance of the NZSBK title goodbye.
