God help me firefighter, you are a twat aren't you!?
Yep. It's me that's the twat.........
I thought that was about as intelligent a response i'd get there from the calibre of your original post. You failed to answer a single legitimate question.
Obviously you know what i've written is the truth and lack a braincell with enough substance to defend your own tripe.

Fix a computer and it'll break tomorrow.
Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.
I've been booked twice in the last 12 months. At fault (obviously) both times.First up was the BMW riding cop who patrols the Welly motorway and his attitude sucks.Second was a Masterton cop who couldn't have been nicer. My attitude is always "Yes sir,no sir" so it proves that there are good uns and bad uns(or good days and bad days!)

I've got miserly tourettes and I don't give a fuck.
I think the discretionary powers of the cops have been taken away, replaced with performance markers, and the decision, to issue a ticket, has been made, even before the cop gets out of the car. They have become nothing more than glorified paper pushers, and revenue collectors.
When a cop stops are vehicle, it is he or she who is controlling the situation, and if he/she treats the other driver with arrogance and rudeness, then he/she can’t in all reality, expect the other driver, to sit there and take it. I for one, will not listen to rudeness or arrogance from some blue uniformed prick, who thinks he has the right treat me with distain. He can I think, rightfully, expect to get it back in shovel fulls.
Treat me with respect, and I will do the same.
But even common courteousness has disappeared, go through a check point, there is no hello, or good evening, sometimes you might get a grunt if you’re lucky, usually its “licence” “wof” “blow here” etc no please, or thanks, just a grunt if they can’t book you for anything.
This makes me angry too, I feel forced into a confrontational situation, not of my making, been treated like crap, and let loose again. No wonder I want to kick something after.
Weekend rides used to be a wonderful thing, but these days, you need one eye on the speedo, one eye on the road, and another eye on the mirrors in case a cop wants to book you for being 5kph over. It has got bloody ridiculous, If it’s not checkpoints its speed cameras, if it’s not that it’s cops with a ticket fetish.
No wonder people drive the way they do, they are scared of getting booked for bloody breathing!
I used to have the utmost respect for them, I do understand they have to deal with some real eggheads, but they have forgotten that most riders, drivers, are pretty good, albeit, be prone to the odd cock up.
there needs to be more discretion, but there is not, its 120kph, ticket. 111kph ticket. 105kkph ticket. It doesn’t matter if it was on a downhill slope, middle of nowhere, no other vehicles, fine weather, and dry road, and the missus has gone into labour, no sirrr, that will be $170.
Treat that fair-minded driver like that, and they can expect the next time around, not to be given the time of day. That I’m afraid is me.
Hey firefighter, although i still think you jumped the gun on this issue, jumping down my throat without knowing anything about me or how many countries i've lived in and thinking it's ok for cops to speed on their days off or thinking that just because we don't live in communist china we aren't oppressed in this country (wait till the cops are armed).
i have to admire your stand on that dodgy dealer thing. you've gone up in my estimation. well done.
Ah, I'm soooo glad I live in the uncluttered and laid-back south!!

" Life is not a rehearsal, it's as happy or miserable as you want to make it"
Strange, I've always had happy men and women usher me through checkpoints. Had one charming fellow who complimented my bike and saying "Ahh I hate helmets, can ya fit it in there mate?"
A brisk walk around a certain area of the Auckland District Court makes me thankful this police "gang" is still around, even with people taking such distain against them.
Some people are nice people, some people aren't nice people, either can become police - shock, horror, I know. Shit, is this what they call logic? My mind is blown.
You are dreaming, of course they dont get punished...what about the usual cases of double standarts that we read about (drink dirving and refusing to get tested for example)
NO its not a "job" its a public service (that you and I pay them for!), and therefore they should lead by an example...so "letting go" and ejoying himself doing exacltly what he tickets people for during day is the highest form of hypocrisy!
But you wouldnt know anything about that would you?
No we are not opressed nation (not sure what that has got to do with the argument), thats why i live here...but cops are still bunch of dickeheads that treat us like second grade citizens!
(and no, iam not kiwi, iam from europe, from pretty corupt country actualy...but still cops have other things to worry about than some meaningless traffic offences)
Yup, discretion used to see lots more warnings.
Trouble is, lots more warnings meant lots more people failing to get the message, and thus more deaths. In 1973 more than 800 died. We all loved the cops because they gave warnings, but more died.
The thing is, the cops are there to do stuff which causes people to comply with the law, hopefully leading to less deaths and injury.
It's enforcement to prevent crashes, not a popularity contest.
Yes, they are public servants, and have to be accountable. However, sometimes things have to be done that people don't like.
So there.
So, how many times have you been treated badly by the cops over the years? 10? 20?
I've been in traffic enforcement for over 22 years. Each day I deal with people I always start off on a friendly note, and several times each day it turns into what a nasty man I am, it's all about revenue, it's just a quota etc. That happens maybe 2000 times each year. At a guess.
So, you've been treated badly 10 or 20 times, and I've been treated badly maybe 44000 times.
Wanna swap?
Just thought a bit more, and it's probably not so bad.
I've probably only been treated like a doormat 10000 times.
Sorry I exaggerated.![]()
