If your looking for a pulsed output from a trigger or CDI generator coil you need to use one of those old style analog meters with a moving needle as a digital is to slow to register.

Kicking the motor over, you won't get to measure the voltage output, but an analog's needle will flick whenever there is a pulse, telling you the stator is still alive. You can use it to check the CDI is firing to the coil too. But don't try to test the Plug side of the coil.

Set the meter on the 20V AC range for the trigger coil, and 200V AC for the CDI generator coil and CDI discharge.

Sometimes you can find really cheep analog meters at Dick Smiths or JayCar.

Sorry boys and girls I'm going to sit this one out. I get my sholder checked out later today. This morning the weather has turned wet. Not a happy thought racing in the wet. We have had some real mint weather in the past 6 mounths. Hope it goes well for you. Hammish please post here how you get on on the 650 thing.

O.K. so who's gonna make it?
I'm keen , I've just got it running and most of my power's back.
Now I just need to make it carburate.
Life is a lesson-if I bother to listen

Ill head over and watch for a bit. Hey Andrew, yeah it was good fun. Very different ball game to buckets. I wasn't all that good at riding a big bike, I had to learn how to ride it really. It is a big and fat bike with crap rear suspension but its very fast in a straight line compared to most other pro twins which is good and surprising to say the least. The test day yesterday was mint, had the front sliding every now and then, not so much the rear. Was feeling pretty good. It then rained this morning so I scored some wets for the bike for $40. I couldn't ride very well at all in the wet, just wasn't used to it. Was 20 seconds a lap off my dry pace in qualifying. Then dropped 11 seconds off those laps times in the 10 lap race where I started to get used to having traction in the wet. Then had 2 dry 5 lap races (heeeeaps of people crash, held up the event a fair bit so laps were cut down from 10 to 5) where my laps times were getting faster by a few tenths a lap from the start of the first 5 lap race to the end of the 2nd 5 lap race. I didn't end today on the same pace as the practice day yesterday but learnt a lot about cornering a heavy bike with wallowy rear suspension. Still lots to learn though

Hi Hammish I'm pleased you keeped it up. I was concerned you might go to hard and over cook it. Then you may spend to next two weeks and on saying to yourself "you dumb barstard why did I do that." (OK thats what I'm saying to myself)

    Blah

I'd just like to point out, that due to the slackness of you Wellingtonians, I have not been allowed to see whatever it is that Trudes was all excited about.
Sooooo, when is your next meet? (yeah, i could look at your calendar, but can't abuse you all that way, and that's not fun)
