Mmmm, so are you suggesting that when Police stop any person for speeding they should then conduct a competency test on that persons driving to see if they are capable of driving at whatever speed they were traveling at?

    Come on, get real...

"Good morning driver, I have checked your speed at 61 km/h, I am now going to conduct a competency test on your driving ability that will take 30 minutes, please wait here."

Or perhaps the police officer could just take the drivers word for it that they are a competent driver, yeah right!

As if, get real and start living in the real world.

think he was suggesting you guys apply discretion, ie a motorist doing 65k in a 50k zone just before the edge of town where there are clear verges and visibility for 8m either side of the road is probably safer than someone doing 50 net to a footpath full of people right?

I think that coz I've got a modern V8, that handles well and stops well, that I too should get some 20kph slack, or even 16kph slack come to think of it. Didn't get it last Christmas though, fuck it.

Tend to agree. I, for instance, don't have any issues with the school zones, little buggers can leap out from anywhere. 50kph in those areas is too fast but 61 on the edge of town? So what? maybe a bit of finger-wagging might have the desired effect, a ticket will just creat animosity and this is where the problems arise. No fucking discretion! It's all about the quota, the money and to hell with everything else. No wonder we have such arseholes in the police, half-decent folk wouldn't want the job.

No mention here of "edge of town" or "8 metre clear verges."

They thought he was joking but when their technician plugged the car in and downloaded the telemetry they found that indeed, every morning on the way to work, he was hitting 200mph.
One small detail being that the route to work included the autobahn.

it just goes to show that you have no idea what "discretion" is!

I dont need to mention all the possible scenarios like time/visbility/vehicle type/location/type of road vs speed...that should be your judgement!

But all you do is like fucking brain washed sheep follow the retarded speed kills song!

This is for all of you police guys reading this (red mermaid made me realize you probably dont know this word and thats why we have all these problems)

    Noun: discretion di'skre-shun
1.Freedom to act or judge on one's own

And new word on tomorrows sesame street is going to be...integrity...

A number of International Royal Commissions have found a direct link between Corruption and Discretion - The more Discretion the less there is of Corruption.

P.S do not link that to Quotas; I was just putting a fact out there, o and NZP only have Targets

And while we are at it, looks like a non-english native speaker needs to teach our police meaning of some words....

    Adverb
    out of context

    1. Without context that is needed for understanding the original meaning.
They took his statements out of context and made him sound like an extremist

I had a cop use discretion.
He reckoned I was riding at 146kph in an 80kph zone. He didn't stop me as he used his discretion and decided "You weren't riding dangerously, you were just riding fast".(quote) Continued to use that discretion whilst following me for the next 39 kms. He decided to stop using it three weeks later after reading some of my KB posts. Came and saw me at 10.30pm and plucked my licence from me.

Perhaps he did use his discretion and thought 61 near all those kiddies was too fast...?

And for what its worth... I don't do 61. I did once but it was so strange I cancelled it......

Tell me Patrick, is there any truth in the news story that your Boss wants his boys and girls climbing trees to catch speeding motorists?
Are you going to do it or use your discretion and recognise that he is an incompetent nincompoop and ignore any such directive.

PS. Has no one pointed out to him yet the 'Speed Kills' policy kills people? Or is he such a belligerent, one-eyed, brain-washed, half-witted, dick-wad that he ignores the evidence that shows this to be true?
